Accommodation

FIDI has negotiated rates for the FIDI Conference delegates at the InterContinental Geneva Hotel.

New this year, FIDI negotiated an early bird rate for hotel bookings, don't miss the opportunity to get a discounted room and book your accommodation now. The early bird rate is only available until the 10th January 2016.

Badge

As a delegate to the FIDI Conference, you will be entitled to a personalised conference badge which cannot be exchanged for any reason.

  • There will be only one badge (and one lanyard) per delegate. If it is lost, an extra badge can be
    issued subject to an administrative fee of 15 EUR;
  • Your (profile) picture will be printed on your name badge, and is a pre-requisite for your registration
    to be accepted by FIDI;
  • If for any reason your badge or lanyard is damaged, it will be replaced in return of the damaged one;
  • Attendance to all events, including the networking lounge will be by badge only;
  • NO BADGE - NO ENTRANCE to FIDI events and/or functions;
  • The badge for the Gala Dinner extra, guest only, gives access to the Gala Dinner event and
    NOT to the whole FIDI Conference.

Conference Language

The official working language of FIDI is English.
Therefore the conference along with all sessions and printed materials will be in English only.

Currency

Switzerland's currency is the Swiss Franc, locally and internationally denoted by the abbreviation CHF.
Notes come in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 1000 Francs.

Credit cards are widely accepted, even entrance to a nightclub can be paid by credit card. ATMs are widely available throughout the city, dispensing notes up to 1000 CHF.

First Aid

The InterContinental Geneva Hotel does not have an onsite doctor.
Should any incident occur at the hotel or should you be feeling unwell and would like to see a doctor, please call the SOS doctor at +4122
748 49 50 - the SOS doctor is approximately 2km away from the hotel.

The following hospitals can be reached by taxi from the hotel in approx. 10-15 minutes:

Hospital University of Geneva (HUG) is located in they city centre approximately 3km from the InterContinental Geneva Hotel.

All travelers are highly recommended to take out medical insurance when traveling.

Transport

Geneva International Airport is located approximately 4.6km or 10 minutes from The InterContinental Geneva Hotel.

Airport transfers

Please note that FIDI will not be organising shuttle buses to/from the airport to the conference venue.

If you would like to book your own airport transfer before arriving in Geneva, both the InterContinental hotel and FIDI's Local Destination Management Company (DMC) offer a transfer service. For the DMC offer please see the Airport Transfers Page

Public Transport

Bus number 5 passes by the InterContinental Geneva Hotel. This bus starts it's route at the airport and then goes into the city centre, and onto the French border.


Once you check-in at the InterContinental Geneva Hotel, you will be automatically issued with a transportation pass, which will allow you to travel on all public transportation within Geneva for free.

Free Transportation Card

Upon arrival at the  Geneva Airport, towards the exit doors, there is a machine where you can claim a free transportation card, which will give you free travel on all public transport within Geneva. You can use this card to take the number 5 bus to the InterContinental Geneva hotel.

Then upon check-in, you will be issued with your full stay free transportation card.

Visa

  It is important that all delegates check whether they need a visa or not.

  If you are unsure of whether you need a visa or not, click here to find out. Remember to enter your nationality and not the country departing you are from.

  FIDI Stongly advices all delegates to double check with their embassy to ensure a visa for entry is not  needed. The above and any visa information shared on the FIDI Conference website is a guideline only, and must not be taken as concrete information. Any hesitations at all, please contact your embassy.
