OVERVIEW


The 5th Annual Applied Research Education Day 2014 will be devoted to exploring ways to improve transitions of care within the long term care and beyond. The goals for the day are to:

      ·  Promote research utilization and innovation in senior care
· 
Profile new and emerging research and researchers
· 
Provide a forum for learning, networking and information sharing

In 2013 over 500 delegates attended the 4rd Annual Applied Research Education Day 2014, including Administrators, Dietitians, Nurses/ Directors of care, OTs/PTs, Physicians, RAI Coordinators, Media, Policy Makers, Providers of Products/ Services, Researchers and Innovators, Residents of LTC Homes and Students. Upon the overwhelming success of this event, and as per many request from delegates, this year’s Research Day will be a two day event, meaning that it will provide double the exposure and networking opportunities for speakers and presenting authors, showcased Tools & Resources and Innovations.

 
THEME - Building Transformation: Improving Care Transitions
               

TARGET AUDIENCE - Researchers, students, policymakers, aging care leaders and frontline caregivers (e.g., nurses, physicians,  PSWs, food service workers, activation, rehabilitation professionals), long term care residents, family caregivers, aging care innovators.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We welcome submissions for:
1.  Posters & Oral Presentations
2.  Tools & Resources
3.  Innovations (Proven/ Promising Products & Technologies) and Innovators Den


Read through the instructions as it contains important information you will need to follow:

1.  Only abstracts in English will be accepted
2.  Online submission only (online submission guidelines below)
3.  All submissions must include:   
      •  Topic (to help program committee to group presentations and Research Day participants to easily search program
        content)
      •  Title of presentation
      •  Overview of research or project (250 words max)
      •  Reasons why the topic is important to profile at the Research Day 2014 (250 words max)
      •  Presenting Author and Co-Authors’ information (name, affiliation and contact information)
      •  Additional / supporting materials - The following files can be uploaded: PDF, Word Doc files, images (jpeg), video (WMV
        files only, up to 100Mb). These materials will help reviewers better visualize the submission contents, quality, and
        suitability;
      •  Keywords (up to 5)


REVIEW & SELECTION CRITERIA
All submissions will be reviewed and will be adjudicated by a panel of researcher practitioners, based on the following criteria:

1.  Importance or contribution of the research
2.  Timeliness and relevance to Research Day theme & target audience
3.  Documented outcomes or potential impact
4.  Potential for knowledge transfer
5.  Quality of presenter(s) / Clarity of submission content


Based on the above criteria, a panel will review the abstracts and make a recommendation to Accept, Accept Subject to
Changes, or Decline a submission.

The panel will also recommend whether the submission would work best as a: 1) poster; 2) oral presentation; 3) resource
table or 4) innovators den project.

Lead authors/presenters will be notified by email of the panel’s recommendation by Friday, December 20, 2013.

Selected abstracts will be published online on the OLTCA website.
