Transportation from the Airport
The Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” (opened in March 2001) is located in Spata, 27 km northeast of Athens, serving 16 million passengers per year. The Athens International Airport is accessible via a six-lane motorway and a 24h public transport express airport bus, as well as taxis and metro. The airport is connected daily with over 60 cities around the world with the longest direct flight time from a European destination being 4 hours 3 minutes (from Dublin). The Athens International Airport has been awarded many times and is distinguished for its safety, comfort and customer satisfaction focus.
The direct Metro line connects the airport to the city centre in less than 40 minutes while a taxi ride to the city costs €35 (from midnight to 5 am the cost is about €50) and takes approximately 30 minutes. To reach the Venue Hotel from the Airport you need to take the Airport Metro Line (Blue Line) and get off at "Evangelismos Station". The Divani Caravel is a 7 minute walk from the station.
The venue of the Opening Ceremony (Megaron International Conference Centre) has a decicated metro station, named "Megaron Moussikis".
