Cape Sounio Tour
Thursday, October 23rd,  2014

A half day trip from Athens full of images. You will begin your Sounio tour with a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada,Vouliagmeni, Varkiza). As you approach Cape Sounion, it rises like a sheer cliff out of the sea. At Cape Sounio where you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands).

Land masses to the west stand out in sharp profile: the island of Aegina backed by the mountains of the Peloponnese. The beauty of the surviving Doric columns has inspired many poets, including Lord Byron who carved his name on one of the columns.

Time will then be taken for a traditional lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Farewell Dinner
Saturday, October 25th, 2014

The Farewell Dinner will be held at the Vorres Museum (1, Parodos Diadochou Constantinou St., Paiania, Attiki) on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 at 21:00 hrs.

The Vorres Museum is a cultural foundation that was established in 1983 with the purpose of promoting Greek art and culture, through a broad spectrum of activities, from the organization of exhibitions in Greece and abroad, to educational programs for children. The museum, which sprawls over six acres, is divided into two main sections: the museum of contemporary Greek art and the folk art museum, both of which house collections that cover at least 2500 years of Greek history. The gardens, wild and consisting almost entirely of Mediterranean flora, are an indispensable part of the museum being described by many as the most beautiful gardens in Athens.
