WORKSHOP INFORMATION

WORKSHOP ONE: DAY ONE 2.30pm-3.30pm
Everyone Can Play - NSW Inclusive Playscape Guidelines
Aaron Mullins - Manager Open Space and Parklands, Office of Open Space and Parklands, Department of Planning and Environment

The New South Wales Government recently announced the commitment to ensure everyone in NSW can enjoy playgrounds and playspaces across NSW. With more than 1.3 million people in NSW living with a disability or added needs, it is vital that our community spaces are planned, designed and managed to be enjoyed by every person regardless of their level of ability. This new program focusing on playspaces will support the design and management of inclusive playspaces across NSW. The commitment will be reinforced by the establishment of a suite of Guidelines, based on the principles of universal design, to communicate how to design and manage these important community spaces to maximise community access.   Lets work together to ensure that Everyone Can Play in NSW.

The interactive workshop will question and allow discussion on:
What makes a playspace inclusive?
What are the barriers to creating an inclusive playspace?
How can we influence the design of playspaces?
How will the guidelines help you?

WORKSHOP TWO: DAY ONE 3.40PM-4.40PM
Place Measurement: Understand - Define - Measure - Refine
Kylie Legge - Founder/CEO, Place Score

Making places that attract and attach people is harder than it sounds. Place measurement tools can help understand what is working or not working, define priority projects, measure impact and guide the refinement of scope or design. This interactive workshop will provide an introduction to place measurement and the easy tools you can start using straight away. You will learn to use the Place Score platform and review data from over 15,000 Australians who have already participated in one of our surveys to come up with your own objectives for a regional town centre.

Learning outcomes:
- Introduction to place measurement and evidence based decision making
- How to use data to define projects and measure success

TECHNICAL TOUR INFORMATION

This year we have two exciting technical tours on offer as part of the Conference program.

Tour One - Victoria Park Precinct
This first tour gives you the chance to explore the wonders of the Victoria Park Precinct which incorporates Tamworth Marsupial Park & Adventure Playground, Tamworth Miniature Railway and Oxley Lookout.

Schedule:
Delegates will arrive at Victoria Park which incorporates the Botanic Gardens, including the threatened species (flora) group, Men's Shed, Tamworth and District Model Engineers and the future site of the Tamworth Regional Astronomy Club.  Sam Eriksson, TRC Sport and Recreation Development Officer, will provide an overview of the Victoria Park precinct and its governance.  Presidents from each subcommittee within the Park will be on hand to address specific questions in relation to their club.

Delegates will then move on to Marsupial Park where an overview of the Park will be provided by Hugh Leckie and guests will hear from Friends of the Marsupial Park president John McDarmont.  This part of the tour will focus on five key areas:-
