Initially in the planning liaison unit in Aberdeen before touring the Stirling, East Kilbride and Glasgow offices under the guise of Environment Protection Officer, Simon has been with SEPA since 2000. He has been a water specialist since 2008, focussing primarily on the regulation of abstractions from, and impoundments in, the water environment. Due to the increasing popularity of hydropower, last year SEPA set up a team dedicated to improving and making more consistent the process involved in achieving a water use licence for these schemes. Simon currently leads the team in the south west of Scotland.
