Julie Hare
Higher Education Editor, The Australian

Julie Hare has been higher education editor at The Australian since August 2010, after six years editing the specialist higher education title Campus Review.  Before that, Julie edited a magazine for the NSW education department.

Her early years in journalism were in magazines as an editor, sub-editor and feature writer. She still occasionally yearns to write about lipstick and floral arrangements.

Julie collected a bachelor of arts from Newcastle University in the 1980s, where she majored in English and drama, apparently giving no thought to a future career. She stumbled into journalism via a mixture persistence, chutzpah and sheer blind luck.
