Purpose Statement

Today's health care environment is one marked by rapid changes, increasing innovation, and systemic shifts. Thriving in this landscape requires organizations and health care teams to cultivate transformational leadership and strong organizational structures that foster nursing professional practice, inter-professional collaboration and outcomes-driven care. Nurses are ideally positioned to lead in this environment, given their key role within the care teams that surround every Kaiser Permanente patient, member, and family. Nursing is critical to the compassionate, high-quality, and evidence-based care of our members, and in helping those members achieve their health and wellness goals. The foundation for the registered nurse's role is based on the Kaiser Permanente nursing vision, values, and professional practice model.

This two day conference is designed to build upon that knowledge and highlight the elements necessary to lead organizational transformation. It will explore how the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition® framework can help us achieve our goals of:

  • Transformational leadership
  • Structural empowerment
  • Exemplary professional practice
  • New knowledge, innovation, and improvements
  • Empirical quality results
