8:40am-9:10am Opening Keynote - "MyndMove Therapy: Redefining Upper Extremity Neurorehabilitation"

Stroke is the leading cause of long-term adult disability in North America.  The absence of effective rehabilitative therapies to address severe, persistent impairment of the paretic arm and hand is a significant contributor to the burden of long term disability. MyndTec Inc. is a medical technology company based in Mississauga, Canada, dedicated to the development and commercialization of innovations that improve function, maximize independence and enhance the quality of life. MyndMove, the company’s first product, is a non-invasive functional electrical stimulation device indicated for the improvement of arm and hand function and active range of motion in patients with paralysis or paresis following stroke or spinal cord injury.  The economic benefit of achieving these goals impacts a full range of stakeholders including patients, their families, healthcare systems, private insurers and governments.

9:10am-9:40am Opening Keynote - "E-QIP your Teams and Organizations for Quality Success – Put your QIP to Work"

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT is a well-known word in the Ontario healthcare world. Hospitals have embraced their quality improvement journeys, and have had to become quite transparent with the results of their quality improvement plans (QIP). They’ve had to comply to the Ministry of Health’s requirements or face funding cuts. It’s a tough world out there and it’s coming to Long-Term Care on April 1st, 2015.
Will the Ministry of Health require the same transparency and results of Long-Term Care? Absolutely.
Is this daunting for the Long-Term Care homes? Yes. Does it require organizations to start working on their QIPs now? Yes.
Geneviève Lukenda-Lund, owner of GLL Consulting, will take you through her experience and tips on building your own, custom-made QIP. She promises you’ll leave with a solid ‘to-do’ list for you to hit the ground running!

Looking forward to seeing you on June 5th 2014!
