Dr. A. Paul Beaulne

Paul has been active in the area of program evaluation, corporate and clinical research, and performance and outcome design and analysis and information delivery systems since 1984.Recently, Paul was appointed the Co-Director of RAI- Western Canadian Research Centre a group devoted to research related to interRAI MDS assessment and classification instrument.He currently has held an adjunct faculty positions in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and has held adjunct and teaching positions in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Alberta.He had previously held the position of research associate to the Chair of Public Health Sciences. He has authored and co‑authored peer-reviewed articles in the area of rehabilitation and long term care.Paul has applied his expertise related to measurement, evaluation and performance outcomes assessment to the sectors of health care, government, education, worker’s compensation and private business.
 
Dr. John P. Hirdes
Professor
University of Waterloo, School of Public Health and Health Systems

Dr. Hirdes is a Professor and Ontario Home Care Research and Knowledge Exchange Chair in the School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo. He is the senior Canadian Fellow and a Board Member of interRAI, an international consortium of researchers from over 35 countries. He chairs interRAI's International Network of Excellence in Mental Health and the interRAI Network of Canada. 

Dr. Hirdes has over 140 publications in peer reviewed journals and academic book chapters. His primary areas of interest include geriatric assessment, mental health, health care and service delivery, case mix systems, quality measurement, health information management, and quantitative research methods. 

In 2012, Dr. Hirdes received the University of Waterloo Award for Excellence in Graduate Supervision. In addition, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal through the Canadian Home Care Association and the Canadian Association on Gerontology.

Her expertise lies within strategy and operational effectiveness with an emphasis on making change stick. Her transformational experience is approaching the 15 year mark and spans 7 different countries. She's dedicated the last few years to long-term care where she works closely with the homes to build confidence and competence in problem-solving. Gen has built a large toolbox of resources and methods dedicated to process and quality. She is thrilled to be able to share her wisdom and experience at this year's Quality and Innovation Forum.

Corrine is a successful health educator, researcher and entrepreneur. She is recognized throughout Canada as expert in outcome measurement and an innovator in the development of effective e-health solutions for health organizations across the continuum of care. Corrine’s passion for improving the Canadian health system through outcome measurement is both inspired and informed by 25 years of experience as a nursing clinician, manager, consultant and educator.

Corrine’s rapidly growing company, Health Outcomes Worldwide, develops and delivers innovative outcome measurement tools, relevant data and strategic direction to health organizations in all sectors of care. These e-health solutions help organizations to facilitate improvements in patient care while building greater fiscal and human resource capacity from within.   

Corrine is an accomplished author and speaker. She was the primary author of the Evidence Based Wound Management Protocol which has been adopted as a standard of care by the Department of Health in Nova Scotia.

 
Aimeex Merkley

Since joining the OMNI team in 2001, Aimee has held various positions and maintained responsibility for varying portfolios. In her current role, she is the organizational lead for RAI-MDS and OMNI’s 18 RAI Coordinators. Aimee works closely with the homes in review and submission of data to CIHI each quarter. As part of the operations team, Aimee actively participates in data quality review, indicator analysis and education. Aimee has a keen interest in data quality and in working to increase and improve accuracy and understanding.

Connie Paris is the Manager for the Data Management team with the Home & Continuing Care department at CIHI. She is new to the role and just back from maternity leave, so she begs your forgiveness as she gets up to speed on things. Connie has been with CIHI for ten years and has worked with a number of their databases, including Rehab and Mental Health, prior to joining the HCC team.

Diana H. Pliura, Ph.D., is CEO, Chair and Co-founder of MyndTec Inc.  Prior to assuming her full-time role at MyndTec in 2012, she was President of ALBRY Inc., providing strategic advisory and management services to emerging life sciences companies, investors, technology transfer offices, and established companies undergoing transition.  Previously, she has served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence with HTX.ca, the Health Technology Exchange; Executive Vice President at YM BioSciences; founding CEO of DELEX Therapeutics Inc.; Company Creator to the Eastern Technology Seed Investment Fund; Scientific Advisor to MDS Capital Corp.; Vice President of Research at Hemosol Inc.; and, Head of the Division of General Biochemistry at Syntex (Canada) Research.  In various senior executive roles, she has lead the development of innovative life sciences projects through various stages of development and commercialization and has participated in securing over $100 million in equity financing from the private and public capital markets and has led or assisted companies through acquisitions, partnerships and IPO's.  She received her Ph.D. (Chemistry) from the University of Toronto and completed post-doctoral studies at Harvard University.
 
Jayne Warwick RN, HBScN

Jayne Warwick is a Canadian Registered Nurse with almost 30 years of experience in the LTPAC space and extensive industry and regulatory knowledge in both US and Canada.   Jayne has worked as a floor nurse, ADON, DON, Nurse Consultant, Director of Business Development, Director of Operations and Director of Quality for both small and large chains before  moving into the software sector at PointClickCare.
Over the last ten years with PointClickCare, Jayne has worked extensively with facilities throughout North America to more effectively improve business operations and quality of care while optimizing reimbursements through the implementation and use of EHR and data management.
Jayne has extensive industry and regulatory knowledge for initiatives such as EHR, Vendor Certification, MDS 3.0 and is RAC-CT certified in the MDS 3.0 through the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators (AANAC).  Jayne is now the Clinical SME for PointClickCare Marketing team.

 
Dr. Walter Wodchis PhD, MA, MAE, BMath
Associate Professor, Institute of Health Management Policy and Evaluation, University of Toronto, and Adjunct Scientist, Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences

Dr. Wodchis is Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. He is also a Research Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. His main research interests are health economics and financing, health care policy evaluation, and long-term care. Dr. Wodchis is the Principal Investigator for the Health System Performance Research Network. In this program, he leads a team engaged in research focused on evaluating health system performance for complex populations across multiple health care sectors. Dr. Wodchis is also co-Principal Investigator for an international team grant with New Zealand focused on understanding spread of community based integrated care innovations to improve care for complex older adults. Past significant publications include quality of life measurement for older populations, incentives and government payment for physicians and long-term care including pay for performance, and the relationship between quality and cost. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics (Waterloo), Master’s in both Gerontology (Waterloo) and Economics (Michigan) and earned his doctorate in Health Services Organization and Policy (Health Economics) at the University of Michigan.
