BACKGROUND

A traditional hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software volunteer to do collaborative computer programming. Our event is a mix of “mashing up data and ideas” and “hack creating solutions” through service design methodology.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The event will typically start with one or more presentations about the specific goal of the event. Participants then suggest ideas and form teams, based on individual interests and skills. Subsequently the main work of the hackathon begins. At the end there is usually a series of demonstrations in which each group presents their results.

WHAT NEXT?
We want to inspire all attendees about the power of co-creation, service design and collaboration to create exciting solutions to your local community problems. There are plenty of other opportunities to take what you learn further by getting involved in the Global GovJam (two days of service design for non-techies) and/or GovHack (creating solutions for community problems).
