Dr. Tonia Thompson brings over 26 years of experience with the Binghamton City School District. Thompson most recently served as the assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, and accountability, where she was responsible for overseeing all curriculum development, assessments and oversaw the development and administration of competitive and non-competitive grant funds. She chaired the district-wide Professional Development Committee, Curriculum Council, District Data Team, District Policy Committee, and Co-chairs the District Annual Professional Performance Review and Instructional Technology Committee. She led all activities related to accountability as related to student performance. Thompson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a minor in chemistry and concentration in human services, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching Science from Binghamton University. She began her career in education in 1987 as a high school science teacher, later moving to West Middle School to teach physical science. An opportunity to bring her knowledge of science teaching to the elementary level occurred when she took a position as a challenge teacher and teacher resource for elementary science for seven years. During her tenure she was recognized as New York State Teacher of the Year by the Association for Gifted and Talented, National Presidential Award Winner in Elementary Science, Math, and Science and Technology Teacher of the Year – Roberson Museum. After receiving the national Albert Einstein Distinguished Teaching Fellowship award, she served as a fellow at the National Science Foundation in Arlington, Virginia. Interested in continuing her education, she returned to New York State as a graduate student at Syracuse University in pursuit of a Certificate in Educational Leadership. As an Administrative Intern with Skaneateles School District, she was recognized for her work by receiving the Lansing G. Baker Award for Outstanding Educational Leadership Intern. She additionally earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Syracuse University, where she studied the impact of parent education on families and children. Thompson is appreciative of the opportunity to lead the school district forward in hopes of making BCSD the district of choice and the benchmark for New York State.

Murray serves as a regular conference keynote, was named the “2018 National/Global EdTech Leader of the Year,” the “2017 Education Thought Leader of the Year,” one of “20 to Watch” by NSBA, and the “Education Policy Person of the Year” by the Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2015. His latest book, Learning Transformed: 8 Keys to Designing Tomorrow’s Schools, Today, is an ASCD best seller and was published in 2017.

Walter Moran has served as Superintendent of the Eastchester UFSD since July of 2013. Prior to this appointment, he was Principal of Eastchester Middle School for 13 years. Before coming to Eastchester, Walter was Principal of Willow Grove Middle School in the North Rockland School District, Assistant Principal at H.C. Crittenden Middle School in Armonk, and a teacher of Instrumental Music in the Chappaqua Public Schools. Walter earned his Doctor of Education degree from Fordham University, and holds Master's degrees from Pace University and the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music. He received a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music. Throughout his 40 years in public education, Walter has been a staunch proponent of the Fine and Performing Arts. Among the most special blessings in his life are his spouse of 38 years, Kathy, two children, and two granddaughters.

She is also a certified trainer in Mental Health First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid and several suicide prevention programs, including safeTALK and ASIST. Suzanne McLeod has been the Superintendent of the Union Endicott Central School District in Broome County, NY since August, 2008. Prior to entering the superintendency, Suzanne worked as an Asst. Supt. for Business, Curriculum Director, and building administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels for the Harborfields, Smithtown, and Union Endicott Schools. She also taught a variety of subjects and levels in both elementary and secondary schools in Michigan, Massachusetts, and New York, and education courses at Hofstra University, Broome Community College, SUNY Oswego, and Binghamton University. Suzanne has authored professional articles on the topics of trust, home schooling, and bullying, as well as wrote A Principal’s Guide to No Child Left Behind, and teaches workshops to aspiring leaders. Suzanne has served as Board Chair of the Broome County United Way, and on the Boards of the Broome Community College Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome, and the Women’s Fund of the Community Foundation of South Central New York. She is married to Kenneth McLeod, the Entrepreneur in Residence at Binghamton University, and they have 2 children, K.C. and Juliana.

Dr. Chris Manno began his career in education long before he entered a classroom as a teacher. Chris grew up in Hamilton Township, New Jersey (Mercer County), where he developed a joy for working with young people. Chris attended The College of New Jersey where he continued to teach and coach children. Chris graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics, and began his formal education career in Hillsborough, NJ teaching mathematics, and coaching Cross Country, Swimming, and Track and Field. He continued his education, earning a Master of Education Degree in Mathematics in 1994 and another Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership in 1998. Chris continued his studies and earned his Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from Rutgers University in 2005. Dr. Manno has published many articles focusing on leadership, curriculum improvements, and early childhood education. Most recently, Chris published an article entitled A Culture of Lifelong Learning in the November 2016 edition of School Administrator Magazine, a publication of the American Association of School Administrators. Chris entered the field of educational leadership as a Supervisor of Mathematics in Westfield, New Jersey in 1997. Shortly thereafter, he became a Director of Curriculum and Instruction and then the Assistant Superintendent in Montgomery Township, New Jersey. Dr. Manno assumed the role of Superintendent of Schools in Burlington Township in 2005. In 2014, Chris took the helm of Burlington’s County-administered districts, as the Superintendent of Schools for the Burlington County Special Services School District and Institute of Technology, as well as providing oversight for the County’s Educational Services Unit. Over the years, he has taught and facilitated various workshops and classes to current and aspiring school leaders that focus on leadership, strategic planning, process management, and instituting change. Dr. Manno teaches Master’s and Doctoral level courses in school leadership for various colleges and universities. Dr. Manno has been actively involved in various professional and service organizations, including serving as President of the Burlington County, NJ Association of School Administrators. In 2013, Chris was named New Jersey State Superintendent of the Year. He was "profiled" in the March, 2014 AASA publication of School Administrator. Effective July, 1, 2016, Chris proudly assumed the role of Superintendent of Schools for the award-winning Bedford Central School District in Westchester County, New York. Chris and his wife, Melissa, and four children who are actively involved in music, theater, dance, and athletics.

Serving as the Superintendent of Honeoye Falls-Lima Central Schools since 2013, with a proven track record of success, a commitment to excellence, and a unique ability to balance levity with the serious work of an executive in a complex organization. Previously Gene has served as an Assistant Superintendent, held multiple terms as a building principal and both taught and coached. For several years Mr. Mancuso served as a Dean of Students, which solidified his belief that laughter and finding strengths in others, was the key to long term success in leadership. Mr. Mancuso was born and raised in LeRoy, NY, where he attended the LeRoy School District. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a communication specialist. Mr. Mancuso went on to attend the State University of New York at Fredonia graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in secondary social studies education. He also attended McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland graduating with a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction and earning his initial certification as a school administrator in Maryland. Mr. Mancuso furthered his studies at the State University of New York College at Brockport, as well as Indiana Wesleyan University advancing his studies in special education and central office administration. In 2010 he participated in the Leadership Institute for Superintendents at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mr. Mancuso has also been part of the Chinese Bridge Delegation with the College Board touring K-12 and higher education institutions in China, he has presented nationally and locally, and has been recognized nationally for his work on creating raving fans of school districts.

MaryEllen Elia is the New York State Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York (USNY). In this role, she oversees the work of more than 700 school districts with 3.2 million students; 7,000 libraries; 900 museums; and 52 professions encompassing more than 850,000 licensees. A native New Yorker, Commissioner Elia has 45 years of experience as an educator. Prior to her appointment in New York, she served as superintendent of schools in Hillsborough County, Florida, for 10 years. She is the 2015 Florida Superintendent of the Year, a recipient of the 2015 AASA Women in School Leadership Award from the School Superintendents Association, and was one of four finalists for the 2015 National Superintendent of the Year award.

Commissioner Elia was born, raised, and attended school in Western New York. After graduating high school in Lewiston, NY, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Daeman College in Buffalo, a Master of Education from the University of Buffalo, and a Master of Professional Studies from SUNY Buffalo. In 1970, she began her career in education as a social studies teacher in Buffalo’s Sweet Home Central School District and taught for 19 years before moving on to administrative positions.

Released on June 22, 2018 is his book "The Superintendent’s Rulebook: A Guide to District-Level Leadership". From 2007 until his retirement in June 2016, Patrick was the Superintendent of Schools at the Hunter-Tannersville CSD in the Northern Catskill Mountains of New York. Hunter-Tannersville High School is a Top High School in the USA (US News & Report, 2014,2015, & 2016), and it is ranked regionally as a top Science School. Patrick served for 18 years as a classroom teacher and Athletics Coach and 17 years as an administrator serving as Principal, Dean of Students, Athletic Director, Special Education Director and Superintendent of Schools. Professionally he served on the NYSCOSS Commissioner's Advisory Council and legislative committees. Currently Patrick is an adjunct Instructor for SUNY Oneonta and serves as Interim Assistant Superintendent/Principal for the Stamford CSD, he has also served as the Interim Principal for the Margaretville CSD. Patrick lives in Tannersville, NY with his wife (and educator) Laurie and their daughter Molly.

Dr. Shari L. Camhi has served as Superintendent of Baldwin Schools since September 2014. She is a visible leader and skilled communicator who regularly invites her community and educators to visit the schools in action. Spearheading the way, Dr. Camhi published a State of the District Report to spotlight signature programs and inspire excellence. This model administrator utilizes strategic planning, gallery walks, and face-to-face conversations to encourage dialogue. She formed a student advisory and actively participates in a community coalition. Blog posts, emails, and an Instagram account provide updates and highlight school pride for her district. Baldwin Schools also now has a new website and mobile app that better informs the community. Additionally, Dr. Camhi recently launched a state-of-the-art TV studio that is the foundation for a New Media Collaboratory with Molloy College. The initiative aims to advance digital media and literacy, and develops partnerships with student entrepreneurs. Prior to serving as the district’s superintendent, she was an assistant superintendent who oversaw curriculum, instruction and technology. Dr. Camhi holds a doctorate from Columbia University Teachers College and is an NSPRA Superintendent to Watch.

Mr. Budmen was admitted to practice in New York State and in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York in 1991. Shadrack Boakye was born in Liberia, Africa during a crippling civil war that took the lives of over 200,000 citizens in the early 1990’s. Along with his mother, Shadrack was one of the few survivors to escape the war-stricken country. Through all the hardships he has had to endure once he entered the United States, among them not being able to read, he has since then, proudly overcome adversities that many immigrants who enter a new country face. His drive and passion for the arts have presented many opportunities for him to channel his creative passion. He is now an accomplished debate champion, public speaker, writer, playwright, director, performer and the president of “The Truth Urban Theater Group.” For the past five years, his company has been traveling to venues on Long Island, New York City and other major cities performing original works. 

Some of his accomplishments include:

  • Earning multiple national awards: a signed boxing glove accompanied by a personal letter from the heavy weight boxing icon Muhammad Ali and winning two Gold medals on the NAACP-ACT-SO playwright and performance competitions which was judged by a distinguished Harvard graduate and a Columbia University Professor.
  • When not performing or writing, Shadrack is an official Motivational Speaker for Scholastic, Inc. His audiences include Educators, School District Administrators, middle and high school students. Scholastic has recently published a book about his story called "Unstoppable" for System 44 students all over the country. 
  • He has performed and lectured at Universities on various topics such as: Discrimination, Immigration, Relationships, Inter-racial dating, Decision-Making, Child Soldiers, HIV/AIDS, Anti-Gang Violence, Bullying, Self-Esteem, Racism and Redemption. He has been a panelist on NBC’s Education Nation with Anne Curry to discuss what he thinks needs to be done to ensure that every student receives a world-class education and has been sponsored by Miriam D. Couch, former President of 100 Black Women of Suffolk County through the I Am the Voice…Poetic Theater for Justice Program as a featured act at the United Nations. 

  • In 2010, He has received the honor of becoming the youngest male to be awarded the Black History Month Distinguished Service Award. Shadrack Boakye has proven that with faith and persistence, that any and everything is possible. His aim is to touch the world with his gift.

Roseann Bayne is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction at CiTi BOCES in Oswego County. She started her educational career in APW Central Schools where she was a dually certified English and social studies teacher for 12 years. Her administrative career has spanned the past 13 years and she has served in as a principal at the primary and secondary level and has been an assistant superintendent for the past nine years, first in Highland Central Schools in Ulster County and now back at her alma mater in Mexico, NY. In addition to her typical administrative duties, Roseann also provides training and support throughout her region on topics such as DASA; Emotional Intelligence; Amygdala Hijack; and Instructional Strategies.

Jason A. Andrews, Ed.D. is the current Superintendent of Windsor Central School District. Prior to that, he served as a high school teacher, coach, co-curricular advisor and Middle School Principal in the district. In this role, he focusses on systemic implementation of Professional Learning Communities as the vehicle to ensure student learning and a culture of continuous improvement. He is also an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Oswego in the Superintendent’s Development Program, and at the Graduate School of Education at Binghamton University. Dr. Andrews currently serves on the Executive Committee for the NYS Council of School Superintendents, the NYS Education Commissioner's Advisory Council, and the National Center for Educational Research and Technology National Board and is a charter member of the Institute for Innovation. He also facilitates Board of Education Strategic Planning Sessions and retreats across New York State for the NYS School Boards Association. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for the NYS Council on Leadership and Student Activities, the National Association of Student Councils and the School Administrators Association of NYS. Dr. Andrews served on the Board of Education for the Harpursville Central School District from 1993 -2000. He also serves on numerous community boards and committees with a particular emphasis on issues related to workforce development and poverty. Dr. Andrews received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Secondary Social Studies from SUNY Cortland, a Master of Science in Education degree from the University of New England, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration from SUNY Cortland and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Sage Graduate School in Albany, NY. Dr. Lynn Allen, LMSW, Ed.D. is an Assistant Superintendent at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. Dr. Allen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Social Work from The College of Saint Rose, her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University and her Doctorate in Education Administration, Leadership and Supervision from Fordham University. Dr. Allen currently oversees the educational, professional development and communications programs at BOCES and serves as the facilitator of the PNW BOCES Regional Crisis Team, Administrators Regional Crisis Team and Suicide Safety in Schools Leadership Team. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors for the Leadership for Educational Achievement Foundation, professional development arm of the New York State Council of School Superintendents, an executive committee member of the New York State Association of School Personnel Administrators, a member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Association for Women in Administration and has served as an adjunct professor at Bank Street College where she taught special education leadership courses.
