During the World of Health IT, you will have the opportunity to further your knowledge and networking opportunities by attending partner events, pre-conference workshops and/or hospital tours. At HIMSS Europe we acknowledge the vast diversity of the healthcare IT ecosystem and want to address all the different interests and different aspects of the industries that our attendees may be interested in. Hospital Tours

HOSPITAL CLÍNIC

Focus: Imaging
Date: Sunday 20th November, from 9.30am to 11.30am

Other info: Stage 6 hospital. Limited places, by invitation-only

Hospital Clínic is a university hospital in Barcelona that includes nearly all medical and surgical specialties, and is active in the areas of ​​Patient Care, Research and Education. In the Hospital, the Clinical Diagnostic Imaging Centre (CDIC) is responsible for performing studies which correspond to the specialties of Radiography and Nuclear Medicine for Hospital Clínic patients as well as those from other public or private centers. The studies performed are not exclusively morphological; they also include functional studies, both diagnostic and therapeutic in nature.

HOSPITAL SANT JOAN DE DEU

Focus: Pediatrics

Hospital Sant Joan de Deu has been a private and non-for-profit hospital since 1867. It’s main focus is dedicated to the integrated care of women, children and teenagers, and is nowadays recognised as being one of the most important pediatrics specialised centers in Europe. CHIME Bootcamp

Focus: Exclusive for CIOs
Date: Sunday 20th November, full day bootcamp

Other info: Closed event - by invitation only

This exclusive event will bring together healthcare IT professionals seeking to acquire the skills necessary to be effective at the CIO level. Taught by a faculty of health IT pioneers on the front-lines of North American digital transformation, participants learn real-world skills necessary to become a successful healthcare CIO. Pilar Raro, IT Director at Hospital La Fe who attended the Bootcamp last year, said: “The CHIME Bootcamp enabled me to learn how to transform our organisation’s often chaotic experiences into successes. Hearing from extremely successful IT professionals from across the world on how to make strategic change happen was instrumental in this”.

Young Competition

Focus: Healthcare hackathon competition

Women in HIT

Focus: The launch of a new HIMSS Europe Community focused on the role of women within the Healthcare IT industry
Date: Monday 21st November
Location: CCIB
Other info: the session is open to women and men alike

Leading women in HIT will be presenting the outcomes of a gender-focused survey launched in Europe, including a panel and audience discussion about experiences, challenges and achievements.

An informal cocktail reception will follow, during the WoHIT Opening Reception on the Exhibition Floor.

eHealth Roadshow

Focus: Innovative companies to pitch their solutions/products to CIOs
Date: Tuesday 22nd November
Location: CCIB

The eHealth Roadshow will be a private session in which 10 innovative companies will present their digital health solutions in a dynamic format: just 5 minutes per company. After the presentations, there will be some Q&A time, followed by an open discussion with the presenters and the other members of the committee (CIOs from around the globe).

HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Awards

The HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Award aims to identify and recognise organisations within Europe that effectively use information technology to successfully improve quality of health and care as well as patient safety. The Award has been executed successfully in the Asia Pacific region for the last three years and has been recognized on an international level. This year, we are bringing it to Europe for the first time and are excited to discover talented and innovative projects within the healthcare IT industry.

Award Category: Outstanding IT Achievement Award

The award category we are striving to recognize for this first edition is "Outstanding IT Achievement". The hospitals or healthcare organisations who wish to participate and submit their nomination should understand the following:

  • The achievement should demonstrate significant improvement to patient care and safety through the use of IT
  • The digital solution adopted doesn't need to be new but needs to have been used effectively by the nominated hospital to significantly improve patient care and outcome and/or address major challenges faced by the hospital
  • Other limiting factors like the hospital financial background, the niche community that the hospital is serving, long-standing problem that the target population is facing, amongst others, will also be taken into consideration
