Keynote Speaker

Chris Grond
Executive Director of Paper Services
Quad Graphics

As Executive Director of Paper Services, Chris oversees all aspects of Quad/Graphics’ paper purchasing and supply operations, including the critical tasks of managing our paper sales and relationships with our paper suppliers.

Chris played a key role in developing our system of grading paper supplier performance with an emphasis on increasing quality and reducing total cost of ownership. Since this program began, web breaks on press and subsequent press downtime have been significantly reduced and paper supply chain efficiency has improved.

Quad/Graphics has grown dramatically, adding dozens of printing plants through major acquisitions like Worldcolor in 2010 and Vertis Communications in 2013. As a result, Chris has overseen a significant expansion of Quad’s Paper Services group, which has grown from 12 employees in 2010 to more than 75 nationwide today who handle more than $1 billion in annual paper purchases.

Chris also plays a lead role in our chain-of-custody certifications from the world’s three major forest management programs: the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC®), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

After joining Quad as a Corporate Trainee in 1987, Chris spent two years learning printing operations first-hand on the production floor. He joined the Paper Purchasing Department in 1989 and was named Paper Purchasing Manager in 1994. He was promoted to Director of Paper Purchasing in 2002, and to Executive Director of Paper Services in 2010.

A graduate of Marquette University, Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
