Creation Museum

Petersburg, Kentucky

The state-of-the-art 70,000 square-foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. Children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings. The themes of the exhibits resound in the theater presentations: Men in White, Six Days of Creation, and The Last Adam. The Special Effects Theater, complete with rumbling seats and rising mists, takes visitors on a fantastic quest to find the real purpose and meaning of life.

Creatures great and small inhabit the three gardens that accentuate the landscape at the Creation Museum. Turtles rest on the logs in the lake, sunning themselves while a 12-foot topiary dinosaur strikes a fearsome pose in the rainforest garden. Bright flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies to the hillside garden, and the bog garden is home to carnivorous plants like the amazing Venus Flytrap and Pitcher plant. Over 6,000 plants have been placed within the lake, and 500 varieties of plants fill the gardens, displaying a rich palette of designs. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy the wonders of God’s creation in the Petting Zoo—something that’s sure to please children of all ages or just the child in you.

Newport Aquarium showcases thousands of animals from around the world in a million gallons of water. You'll be amazed at all there is to see and do, including fun and interactive activities, like touching a shark or meeting a penguin. Newport Aquarium established the world’s first Shark Ray Breeding Program on February 14, 2007, when a male shark ray named Scooter was introduced to the 385,000-gallon Surrounded by Sharks exhibit. Seven years after beginning the Shark Ray Breeding Program, Sweet Pea became the first shark ray to give birth while under professional animal care on January 24, 2014. Enjoy the recently remodeled Theater – now called Shark Ray Bay – featuring more space, new lighting and new information screens. Shark Ray Bay highlights one of the largest acrylic windows in the Aquarium for an awe-inspiring view of the giant shark tank. Dive shows allow guests to learn more about our collection of Shark Rays and other animals. Divers talk from underwater and even answer your questions in this high tech show. While visiting the aquarium, don’t forget to visit Canyon Falls. Canyon Falls is the new home to the Asian small-clawed otters, which are back by popular demand and whose cute little faces will melt your heart. Your family will love watching them from multiple vantage points as they swim and play next to a real indoor waterfall. Canyon Falls also exhibits two species of lizards never before seen at Newport Aquarium. Get nose-to-nose with a Yellow Monitor, a rare and active tree-dwelling lizard from Indonesia, and Panther Chameleon, one of the most colorful lizards in the world from Madagascar.
