Doctoral / Jr. Faculty Consortium

How to apply for the 2016 WAM Jr Faculty and Doctoral Student Consortium:

1.    Send an email to both ltpeterson@gmail.com (Lori Peterson) and suzanne.tilleman@mso.umt.edu (Suzanne Tilleman) with “WAM Consortium” in the subject line

2.    Indicate why you are interested in attending the WAM consortium and what you hope to take away from the event

3.    Tell us where you are in your doctoral program or how long you have been a faculty member

4.    Include a 100-250 word idea abstract for a paper. This should be an under-developed or potential idea, not from a well-developed manuscript.

What comes next?

1.    Either Suzanne or Lori will respond to you to confirm your email was received, and whether you are accepted into the consortium.

2.    You should register for WAM and the Friday Night Beer Social (It will be fun! There will be food and other beverages, plus an interesting presentation by some industry experts!)

3.    Book a hotel room. If you need a roommate, Lori will help connect those willing to share a room

4.    Plan to stay through the final WAM session on Saturday morning for a special presentation

5.    A tentative schedule for the consortium will be sent later in February. Please plan to arrive Wednesday mid-afternoon for the start of the consortium. The consortium will end before the opening session of WAM on Thursday afternoon.

Notes:

One of the sessions at the consortium will be to discuss paper ideas - like the one you will submit! Do not stress too much about your short abstract. We do ask that the abstract be for an idea that you are not currently heavily invested in working on, a project that you have not collected data on yet, and something that you are willing to share with others. We have a special announcement regarding these idea abstracts (sorry, you have to wait until the consortium to hear… :)

Seating is limited.

There is a stipend for doctoral students who attend all the consortium sessions.
