A. Brian Leander

A. Brian Leander, Ph.D. has been fortunate to have a successful career in leadership and ministry spanning the greater part of the last twenty-five years in the U.S. and abroad. Most passionately, he has served as missionary and as an organizational strategy consultant to a range of churches and denominations. His success has been working with leaders who are seeking faithful, collaborative and innovative ways to achieve their mission.

Brian received a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Eastern University in 2014. His doctoral dissertation was a study of leader cultural intelligence in diversity-oriented churches in the United States. The findings of his study establish significant relationships between leader cultural intelligence, top-management team openness to diversity, and leadership practices in churches in the United States. Article based on his dissertation have been accepted by Missiology: An International Review and the Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly for publication.

Brian currently serves as the Manager of Training and Development at Adelphi University. He is also a Professor in the Masters in Intercultural Leadership at Goshen College and Lead Professor in the Master of Arts in Ministry program at Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Previously, Brian was the Senior Planning Consultant with the Institute for Organizational Leadership (IOL), a nonprofit educational institution where he delivered strategic planning, leadership development and organizational development for churches. Brian also served as Organizational Strategist with the Church Resource Ministries (CRM) ReFocusing Team.

Brian is a member of the Board of Directors of the Orchard Group, an organization that has been planting churches in the metro areas in the northeastern United States and cities such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington and Pittsburgh. His professional affiliations include the International Leadership Association and the Academy of Management.
