The educational sessions for INS 2016 have been designed specifically for the specialty practice of infusion therapy. Building on the eight core areas of the specialty, these sessions provide the information today’s infusion nurse relies on to enhance and advance her or his practice. The eight core areas are:
  • antineoplastic/biologic therapy 
  • fluid and electrolyte balance
  • infection prevention
  • parenteral nutrition
  • special populations, pharmacology
  • technology and clinical applications
  • transfusion therapy
Target Audience 
INS 2016 educational sessions are prepared for nurses and other health care professionals involved in the practice of infusion therapy across all health care settings, in all specialties, and all patient populations.

The Goal of INS 2016
To provide educational sessions that enhance and expand the knowledge and skills used by infusion nurses and allied health care professionals in the delivery of safe, efficient, quality care to patients receiving infusion therapy. 

Overall INS 2016 Objectives 
After attending sessions at INS 2016, each attendee will be able to: 
  1. Identify evidence-based practices that can be applied to an individual’s practice setting. 
  2. List various innovations in infusion therapy. 
  3. Identify strategies to develop professional growth, competency, and accountability specific to the specialty of infusion therapy. 

Contact Hours and CRNI® Recertification Units 
INS 2016 comprises two meetings: 
  • Spring National Academy of Infusion Therapy (Saturday and Sunday) 
  • Annual Meeting (Monday through Thursday) 
Each educational session is accredited for 0.8 contact hours of continuing nursing education (CNE). Spring National Academy sessions are accredited for two CRNI® recertification units per hour, and Annual Meeting sessions are accredited for one CRNI® recertification unit per hour. CNE and CRNI® recertification units are not provided for the Industrial Exhibition, including Exhibitor Theater sessions, Simulation Labs, and ePoster Presentations.
