Xavier Delacroix created the consultancy First&42nd in July of 2002 as a subsidiary of the American company, Edelman. First&42nd is an office specialized in consulting businesses on ethics, corporate social responsibility, and governance. The office’s mission is to analyze the internal and external expectations of various stakeholders and to help companies understand these perceptions in a concrete and operational manner.

Xavier Delacroix had joined Edelman Worldwide in 1996 as Managing Director of the Edelman France agency and European Director of the Issues and Crisis Management sector. Before joining Edelman, he was Director of Public Affairs at Burson-Marsteller/Paris. He had previously been a journalist for the BBC in London; he then worked in the written press for such publications as Libération, Le Monde Diplomatique and L’Express, all in collaboration with several French publishing houses..

Xavier Delacroix is the president and founder of the French Association of Consulting in Public Affairs (AFCAP). He is the author of a book entitled “La Grande Peur des Patrons (published in November 2003 by Editions le Félin), in which he draws lessons from his own consulting experience. He coordinated the writing and editing for the publications “ONG – Entreprises : du duel au duo?” and “Influencer la démocratie, Démocratiser l’influence”. He also took part in writing the collaborative work “Les entreprises face aux enjeux du développement durable” (Editions Karthala). A graduate of l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, Xavier Delacroix also holds a degree in law, a master’s degree in history and a postgraduate degree in political science. He earned his Master of Science (Msc) in international relations from the London School of Economics. He is also a graduate of INSEAD.
