National Open Day

Welcome to our Aged and Community Services (ACSA) National Open Day. This site will be updated frequently and we will alert you to changes in the newsletters.

On 20 June 2014 we will join with our ACSA sister organisations in UK, Malta, South Africa and many other countries, as part of our first International “National Open Day” for Aged Care. This day is to promote and support all our members and Aged care service providers to hold an Open day encouraging the community, family, friends to visit their local providers.

The goal is to promote positive images and relationships with all aged care services including retirement villages, residential and community care. The open day will remind everyone of all the positives and help dispel some of negative stereotypes that have sometimes been portrayed over and above all the wonderful and amazing stories of everyday service provision. We hope the day will help promote the healthy and inspiring lives of older Australians, and stimulate volunteering and possible employment in the sector.

In 2014 we might start small – capturing events that are already planned, like fetes, BBQ’s and other activities providers already hold to create positive relationships at a local level. We have already started work on sourcing State or national media draw cards - for example a celebrity chef event.
This site will be updated with draft letters, posters and media releases to help make it easy for you to reach out to your community and media. It will include suggestions for activities you might run and updates on what is happening around the nation and globe.
Earth Hour watch out … we will be just as strong in 10 years.
