Shannan Carr

Shanann Carr is currently Archivist at Nelson City Council, which is a title that only reflects a fragment of the work she is involved in. Overseeing the development and implementation of a revamped recordkeeping framework at Nelson City Council with just one staff member means she has a lot to think about. Previously Shanann has been Senior Advisor Recordkeeping Capability at Archives New Zealand, Archivist at Wellington City Council, and Curator of Archives at the North Otago Museum / Waitaki District Council. She has worked in the R/IM sector for a little over ten years.

Dr Chris Gousmett
Hutt City Council
Chris Gousmett has been working in information management with experience in both archives and records since 1998. He has held positions with the a number of government agencies, the Office of the Ombudsman, and currently with Hutt City Council. For relaxation he can be found on sunny Sunday afternoons driving miniature trains (steam, diesel and electric) on the Petone foreshore.
 
Sarah Heal
Information Leadership
Sarah has consulted across a wide range of EDRMS and ECM implementations and has particular strengths in Information Management Strategy, Information Architecture and Change Management. She has a thorough working knowledge of PRA Compliance, having designed and then delivered Archives NZ PRA compliance public facing training courses. Sarah was one of the three Information Leadership recordkeeping experts who helped design and pragmatically test their SharePoint compliance solution, including the iWorkplace R&D Manager. Before forming Information Leadership with Grant Margison, Sarah was an information manager for ten years. Starting at Archives New Zealand, she moved into local government policy analysis and corporate planning. Sarah then became Information Manager for the Dunedin City Council - responsible for GIS, Document Management, Web, Core Data, LIM management and setting organisation-wide goals and standards. She also led the successful implementation of the DCC's EDRMS system.
 
Joy Kopa
Tararua District Council
After working in a myriad of roles, including shearing shed rouse-about, self-employed florist, and Service Manager for a rural PHO, Joy Kopa began working at Tararua District Council five years ago as Records and Information Administrator. Her appointment doubled the FTE of the Records Department by 100% overnight. Today Joy is the Records and Information Manager with an award-winning team, (which fluctuates from 3 FTE up to 10 FTE during student breaks). The focus of this team has gone from glorified mail distribution, to active records management, with buy-in from all departments across the organisation.
 
Sharon Lewis
Western Bay of Plenty District Council
Sharon began working in Local Government in 2003. Initially joining the Information Services team at TCDC on a six month contract. There she enjoyed six years as the Team Leader before moving onto the Bay of Plenty RC.
Sharon currently works for the Western Bay of Plenty DC as an EDRMS Administrator.
 
Marilyn Little
Archives New Zealand
Marilyn Little was appointed as Chief Archivist and General Manager of Archives New Zealand on 19 December 2014. Previously Marilyn had worked as General Manager Policy at the Department of Internal Affairs and held other senior roles in DIA, the office of the Auditor-General and Department of Labour. Marilyn has proven experience in legislation and regulation which is directly relevant to effect exercising of statutory decision making. Ensuring record-keeping reviews remain on track and strong initiatives adopted for better management of, and access to, archives remain her key priorities as Chief Archivist. Her strong leadership and policy development background has enabled Marilyn to tackle many of the challenges facing the organisation and establish positive momentum on a number of fronts. As the demands upon Archives services continues to grow and reliance upon digital information increases, Marilyn’s resource and people management skills ensures an agile and innovative approach will be taken to meet staff and stakeholder demands. As General Manager Archives, Marilyn is taking a visible leadership role in the development of improved information management across the public service, and the wider state sector.
 
Andrea McIntosh
Whangarei District Council

Andrea has enjoyed a wide range of opportunities in her career to date with the common thread of improving business processes using technology and information management as an enabler. Currently working for Whangarei District Council and embarking on significant projects and the pressures this brings, a work life balance is achieved by gardening, home improvements in general and just making the most of what there is on offer in beautiful Northland.

 
Lesley Officer
ALGIM
Lesley is passionate about Records and Information Management and treating Information Management as an asset. Having recently been appointed to the position of ALGIM IM Project Lead, her role includes: developing Information Management resources, providing best practice guidance to local authorities and leading information management initiatives.

She has worked in the Records and Information Management sector for Local Government for a number of years and has been involved in strategy development, assisted with the implementation of three EDRMS. Developed four business classification schemes, implemented retention and disposal schedules, written and implemented numerous records and information management policies and procedures, and involved on various working parties for the ALGIM Toolkit modules updates.

Lesley has seen records and information in the Local Government sector change from purely paper based information to electronic and the impacts of the digital world. There are challenging changes ahead for records and information and she is excited to be on this journey.
 
Gerard Rooijakkers
Auckland transport
Having been responsible for Information Management as manager of internal affairs with local authorities in The Netherlands for 2 decades, Gerard joined Auckland City Council in 1999 as their Corporate Records and Information Manager after which he managed Scion’s Knowledge Centre in Rotorua before joining Auckland Transport in July 2011. At Auckland Transport he is responsible for the management of information (structured and unstructured data), administered in several major software applications. The organisation’s objective to fully operate in electronic form provides many challenges as well as opportunities in a very dynamic environment. Gerard is an Associate Member and NZ Director of Records and Information Management Professionals Australasia (RIMPA)
 
Braden Rowe

Braden heads the Desktop Imaging solution delivery team and has been with Desktop Imaging since before the millennium began.

He has a background in IT infrastructure, programming and management, with experience working for organisations like ASB Bank and Gen-i. He has also worked in the United States, UK and Australia.

 
Kerri Siatiras

Kerri is a self-employed information and records management consultant. She has over 25 years experience in the information and records management profession. Kerri has wide experience in both the private, public and local authority sectors providing consulting and coaching services for strategy development, policy and procedures, business classification systems, records disposal, electronic document and records management and more. Kerri was part of the SWIM Ltd team that developed the international award winning ALGIM IM Toolkit and she has had a long association with ALGIM.
 
Paul Stone
LINZ
Paul Stone is the Open Government Data Programme Leader. He has over 20 years’ experience in IT for a variety of organisations including Knight Frank (NZ) Limited, Ministry of Defence, Charities Commission and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. Paul was responsible for delivering the Charities Register as open data in 2012. He worked one day a week on secondment to the Open Government Data programme for nearly three years, and is now working full time for it. 
 
Toni Thompson
Wellington City Council
Toni has spent the past 10 years working in Local and Central Government as a manager in the Information Management space. She developed a Digitisation Strategy for Wellington City Council when she started there in 2014 and successfully attained funding for the establishment of the WCC Digitisation Hub in 2015. She is happy to share her learnings of this journey.
 
Irene van Dyk
Irene made her debut for the Silver Ferns in 2000 against her former team, South Africa. Irene left behind a successful netball career in South Africa when she decided to move to Wellington with her husband and daughter. Irene became a citizen of New Zealand in 2005. She won the Halberg Award for New Zealand Sportswoman of the Year in 2003 and was nominated again in 2005.As a member of the Silver Ferns, Irene’s successes include the 2003 World Championship, as well as the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medals.
 
Kylie Welch

Kylie is an Information Management Consultant who has worked within Government Agencies since 2009. Kylie first started working as a Records Management Administrator and was quickly promoted to the Records Manager for a large Tertiary Institution. Following on from her role as a Records Manager she worked for the National Archive (Archives NZ) as a Records Management Advisor. During this time she honed her workshop facilitation and training skills. Following on from her time at the National Archive, Kylie realised her knowledge and passion for training, teaching and facilitating workshops could translate well into her own business and InfoTrain Limited was established. Having her own company, Kylie considered the professional development needs within the Records and Information Management sector and has created workshops to meet those needs.

Becci Whitton is the Team Manager of the Policy Team at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The Policy Team provides advice to government agencies and the private sector on a wide range of issues that impact on individual privacy, including those involving information management and security. Becci's background is in central government policy, including spending time working on local government policy at the Department of Internal Affairs.
