PRACTICAL INFORMATION

1. Getting to the Casa 400 Hotel:

From the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol:
Schiphol train station is situated directly below the airport. Train tickets for domestic travel are available from the yellow ticket machines near the platforms. Staff at the ticket offices can also sell tickets and provide you with train departure information. A direct train is available from Schiphol Station to Centraal Station. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes. 

Get off the train at the Centraal Station and change to the metro. Take the metro from the Centraal Station to Amstel Station (direct approximately 7 minutes). The Casa 400 Hotel is approximately 5 minutes walk from the Amstel Station. See map below.

From the Centraal Station:

Take the train or metro from the Centraal Station to the Amstel Station (direct approximately 7 minutes). The Casa 400 Hotel is approximately 5 minutes walk from the Amstel Station. See map below.
 
 

A taxi from the airport to the Casa 400 Hotel will cost approximately 45 € depending on traffic.
A taxi from the Centraal Station to the Casa 400 Hotel will cost approximately 15 € depending on traffic. 

2. Travel to Amsterdam

There are many low cost flights to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

 The Thalys train company also runs high speed trains via Brussels from Paris and Köln.

 The Eurostar train company runs high speed trains from London to Brussels with a connection in Brussels to Amsterdam.


SOCIAL PROGRAMME

In addition to lunch during the meeting, EURORDIS offers all participants:

1. A Welcome Dinner on Friday, 13 May at the Rosarium to conclude the first day of meetings.
2. A Farewell cocktail (including finger food) on Saturday evening, to close the Membership Meeting.
3. A Canal Boat Cruise on Sunday morning.

Enjoy dinner in a unique location surrounded by the greenery of the beautiful Amstel park.

 
For those of you who wish to make your own way to the Rosarium, a direct metro line from the Centraal Station or Amstel Station runs to the RAI stop. The Rosarium is a 5 minute walk from the metro stop.

It is also possible to take bus 62 from the Amstel train station. This bus drives past the RAI station and stops just before Weerdestein Rosarium.

The Rosarium is located along the ring road of Amsterdam, near the southern axis and the RAI Conference Centre. There are always parking spaces  in the evenings and at weekends for those travelling by car. Parking is free.

The Rosarium has adapted facilities to welcome wheelchair users. 

2. Farewell Cocktail

 
Saturday, 14 May
6pm – 7pm

The Farewell cocktail (including finger food) will take place on Saturday, 14 May from 6pm to 7pm at the Hotel Casa 400. The Farewell cocktail will bring the Membership Meeting to a convivial close.

3. Amsterdam City Canal Cruise

Sunday, 15 May
10am – 11.30am

We are pleased to invite all participants of the EURORDIS Membership Meeting on a Canal Cruise with the Blue Boat Company to visit the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

A canal cruise is an absolute must if you are visiting Amsterdam. Step aboard our privately rented boat reserved for EURORDIS Membership Meeting participants before embarking on a cruise of the Amsterdam canals. Admire the beautiful traditional merchant houses, the numerous bridges, the typical houseboats and experience the unique vibe of Amsterdam.

The boat boasts an extensive audio system which will inform you about all the interesting, beautiful and funny landmarks. This information is available in no less than 13 languages. English and Dutch are standard, other languages are on request.

The vessel is wheelchair friendly, equipped with a wheelchair lift which allows you to board without leaving your wheelchair. The on-board toilets are not adapted for wheelchair users.

 In summer the glass roof can be opened!

 

 
The boat leaves at 10.00am from Stadhouderskade 30, opposite the Hard Rock Café (1017 MA) and returns to the same place at 11.15am.
 
How to get there:
 
From the Casa 400 Hotel
Walk to the Amstel Station from the Hotel Casa 400 (5 minute walk). Take tram line 12. Get off at the Van Baerlestraat stop. The dock is a 5 minute walk from the tram stop in the direction of the Museumplein (Museum quarter).
 
From the Centraal Station
Take tram line 1, 2 or 5 from the Centraal Station. Get off at the Leidse Square stop. Walk towards the Casino and canal (3 minute walk).
