For those unable to join us in Orlando, we are excited to offer free live streaming of select GILPS sessions, including the kickoff general session! All live streamed sessions will also be recorded and available to view at the conclusion of the conference.

Adobe Connect will be used to virtualize the sessions. Before registering please review the following key points:
  • There is a limitation on the number of Adobe connections. Find a point person in your organization that can set up this meeting in one of your conference rooms. You will be able to hear the audio through the phone or your computer speakers.

Kickoff General Session: A Sheriff's Account of How to Prepare and Respond to Attacks

Speaker: Sheriff Jerry Demings, Sherrif, Orange County, Florida


On June 12, 2016, there was a shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people and leaving dozens injured. It was one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern U.S. history. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings presided over this incident and most recently another workplace shooting. Demings will share his first-hand account of the event and how to prepare for and respond to similar attacks involving an active shooter who may walk through your Goodwill’s doors.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards Updates
Speaker: Joan Spencer, Occupational Safety and Health Compliance Assistance Officer, Tampa Area Office of OSHA

An OSHA representative will provide an update on recent changes to OSHA standards and its new electronic reporting requirement.

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Goodwill®
Speaker: Justin McDonough, Deputy Director, Field Investigations, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

During this presentation, participants will learn about the many useful resources available through the CPSC specifically for resellers. Participants will also learn what to expect during a CPSC store inspection as well as specific products targeted by inspectors during inspections. As a bonus, you will learn about a new recall widget that is available to Goodwill members free of charge to assist in identifying products that have been recalled.

Hazardous Chemical Donations and Disposal
Speaker: Vince Giacinto, Area Asset Protection Manager, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin

Unsalable donations pose risk to our employees and add expense to our operations, which translates into less money to support the mission. Learn how Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin is raising awareness of these hazardous materials and how the Goodwill handles these materials after they have been dropped off after hours or within the mix of other saleable donations.

The Data Analytics Initiative: Empowering Goodwill Members through Bigger, Better and Faster Data

In 2017, GII is piloting the Data Analytics Initiative (DAI) to harness the data collected by Goodwill members. During this session, conference participants will gain a better understanding of how this initiative was developed, the benefits of the new system, when it will roll out and how to get involved.
