Violent intruder defense education is needed at every organization to save lives!  The majority of casualties from active shooter events happen within the first four to ten minutes.  The critical gap in time between when Law Enforcement arrives is where the ALiCE program concentrates.   As a result of attending this session, participants will understand the ALICE protocol for responding to an active shooter event and be ready to activate the protocol at their locations.

On June 12, 2016, there was a shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people and leaving dozens injured. It was one of the deadliest mass shootings in modern U.S. history. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings presided over this incident and most recently another workplace shooting. Demings will share his first-hand account of the event and how to prepare for and respond to similar attacks involving an active shooter who may walk through your Goodwill’s doors. *This session will include virtual participation.

During this session, we will present a case study with five years of supporting data regarding implementing an EEOC-compliant post-offer physical examination. We will look at the history of poor hiring practices and their effects on insurability and finances. We will also describe in detail how to design and implement compliant post-offer physicals, with a step-by-step outline that includes examples of work product. We will recap the resulting improvements that lead to decreases in insurance premiums and move the organization to an entirely different, financially beneficial coverage structure.

We will cover how to sustain the program after its induction, how to grow the program’s future state, how to develop an organization chart for your territory, and how to create buy-in from retail leadership.
