1. AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Projects entered must be sufficiently completed. By 20 August 2018, your project(s) must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • demonstrate initial affordability of the product, as well as the incorporation of ‘whole of life’ sustainable elements that provide for affordability in the ongoing running costs
    • demonstrate sustainability to respond to changing housing needs
    • incorporate design elements that make positive contributions to housing affordability whether for ownership or rental
    • are required to demonstrate inclusiveness, the extent to which the project accommodates an appropriate mix of households and seeks to provide all residents with opportunities to participate actively in community life
    • demonstrate marketability i.e. the extent to which the project is accepted by the marketplace.

2. RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must have delivered elements critical to a residential subdivision.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • have established a satisfactory relationship with nearby facilities to meet the needs of residents and users
    • not include a comprehensive range of facilities within the development itself.

 Stages of master planned developments are not eligible to be entered in this category.

3. MASTER PLANNED DEVELOPMENT                      

Projects entered must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must have delivered elements critical to a master planned development.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • have a coherent design with a relevant range of facilities within the development; whether predominantly residential, civic, recreational, entertainment, tourist, commercial or industrial, or a combination of any of these primary uses
    • be developed to the stage where tangible benefits of a ‘master planned’ approach can be demonstrated
    • must be large enough to generate a sense of community (as the size of the project is not defined).

4. ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE                                                

Projects entered must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and should be able to:

    • demonstrate how research, innovation, and design or construction techniques have enabled a significant and outstanding response to enhancing urban ecology outcomes
    • implement water and energy efficient practices
    • demonstrate the use of environmentally responsible materials
    • demonstrate a commitment to the establishment of more sustainable communities and spaces.

5. SENIORS LIVING

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and need to:

    • provide particular attention to the needs of residents who have retired or are approaching retirement age
    • present a high standard of overall design, create a sense of place
    • have regard for an energy and water efficient lifestyle.

Entries are not limited to residential projects and may include aged care.

6. URBAN RENEWAL 

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • must demonstrate revitalisation and appropriate use of land and/or buildings in established suburbs or inner city areas
    • can either retain some existing built elements on a site or be inserted into an existing built environment.

7. MEDIUM DENSITY DEVELOPMENT

Projects entered must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • be a minimum density of 20 dwellings per hectare
    • maximum height of five storeys
    • must be predominantly residential (i.e. small lot housing, villas, town houses, terrace homes, row housing, apartment buildings)
    • may incorporate minor commercial / retail components.

8. HIGH DENSITY DEVELOPMENT

Projects entered must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018 projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • be a minimum density of 30 dwellings per hectare
    • minimum height of five storeys (including low rise, mid-rise, and high rise)
    • must be predominantly residential
    • may incorporate minor commercial and/or retail components.

9. RESIDENTIAL CARE

Projects eligible to enter this category can be an existing or new building. If an existing project is entered, it must include an additional building or an extension to the original building.

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and need to:

    • provide daily living and care services to residents who can no longer live independently
    • provide a residential care option which encourages independence and promotes dignity
    • present a high standard of overall design, and create a sense of place.

10. AFFORDABLE SMALL SCALE DEVELOPMENT (NEW!)

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • 80% of all housing product is priced or sold for less than $700,000
    • have a minimum number of three dwellings;
    • maximum height of three storeys;
    • must be predominantly residential (i.e. small lot housing, villas, town houses, terrace homes, row housing, apartment buildings)
    • may incorporate minor commercial / retail components.

Eligible projects may be located within a stage of a master planned community or residential subdivision.

11. PREMIUM SMALL SCALE DEVELOPMENT (NEW!)

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • at least 80% of all product is priced or sold for more than $700,000;
    • have a minimum number of three dwellings;
    • maximum height of three storeys;
    • must be predominantly residential (i.e. small lot housing, villas, town houses, terrace homes, row housing, apartment buildings)
    • may incorporate minor commercial / retail components.

Eligible projects may be located within a stage of a master planned community or residential subdivision.

12. RETAIL, COMMERCIAL, PUBLIC USE

Projects entered into the Awards must be sufficiently completed, as outlined in the criteria for each Award category. By 20 August 2018, projects must be at practical completion or substantial completion.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • may be of any size
    • must include retail or commercial facilities, or any mix thereof
    • may include malls, shopping, public spaces and/ or buildings, education or health
    • will be judged on their community creation and integration.

13. MARKETING EXCELLENCE 

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a developer and:

    • demonstrate an innovative and successful marketing approach
    • demonstrate substantial delivery of the marketing strategy of the project.

Entries are judged on their branding, understanding of the target market, use of available budget and resources, market acceptance as evidenced by sales, and the achievement of the original marketing objectives.

14. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (NEW!)

Entries to this Award must pertain to a specific development project or plan (e.g. planning scheme, neighbourhood plan etc.).  Entries must be submitted by either a developer, a local government, or State Government agency. 

Projects entered into this category should not be eligible for the Wildcard category.

15. DESIGN EXCELLENCE (NEW!)

Projects entered into the Awards must be submitted as designs only.

Projects eligible for this Award may be submitted by a developer or a consultant and:

    • have a maximum height of six storeys
    • must be predominantly residential (i.e. small lot housing, villas, town houses, terrace homes, row housing, apartment buildings).

16. CONSULTANTS' EXCELLENCE

Projects must be substantially commenced by demonstrating that the first stage has been completed or ample on-the-ground demonstration of specific and relevant facets of the project relevant to the consultant’s contribution, to stage one by 20 August 2018.

Projects eligible for this Award must be submitted by a consultant and:

    • demonstrate the application of innovative and problem-solving practices and initiatives
    • should be project specific
    • must be entitled to enter an Award category.

Submissions may be for an individual or a consultant team and may be associated with land, residential, commercial, or retail developments etc.

17. WILDCARD

If you have an outstanding project that deserves recognition but does not strictly meet the criteria of the other Award categories this is the Award category for you.

The types of projects that may be entered include social infrastructure, community parklands, school/community group projects, public art, IT for the industry, or any number of outstanding projects that have significantly contributed to the industry and the community.

Projects eligible for this Award can be entered by a developer or consultant to the development industry and must not be eligibleto enter any other categories.

18. CEO REGIONAL PROJECT AWARD

Project eligibility:

    • Must be entered into at least one category.
    • Must be entered into Award categories 1-17
    • Must be located outside the Local Government Areas of:
      • Brisbane City Council
      • Logan City Council
      • Redland City Council
      • Ipswich City Council
      • Gold Coast City Council
      • Sunshine Coast Regional Council
      • Noosa Shire Council
      • Moreton Bay Regional Council.
