INS National Academy 2017 Presentation Guidelines

PowerPoint is the preferred method of presentation for sessions at National Academy 2017. Your PPT will be preloaded onto a laptop with a Windows operating system. We do encourage you to bring a back up of your presentation along with any media files on a flash drive. If you have speaker notes, print out a copy and carry it with you.

Engage your audience! Poll Everywhere is a real-time audience response system that displays live poll results right on the presentation screen. Attendees "vote" via text message, or the web using their mobile device. Place your poll question, along with the answers (multiple choice format) on a slide. Title the slide "POLL QUESTION", and we'll take care of having the poll ready for your presentation. The poll will automatically appear in the presentation; you don't have to do anything.

Because INS provides continuing nursing education (CNE) units for attendees, your presentation must be reviewed by a nurse planner at INS. The content of your presentation will be reviewed as directed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to ensure "best available evidence is presented, the content is balanced, and the content is not promotional or biased." (1) A PPT template is provided and we respectfully request it be used as a means of meeting ANCC requirements. You'll be contacted if any issues are identified.

At a minimum, your presentation should include the following PPT slides:

  1. Introduction
    • include your name and the date of the presentation
  2. Conflict of Interest Disclosure
    • "No conflict of interest exists" OR
    • Your name, name of commercial interest, and nature of the relationship
  3. ReferencesĀ
    • format using AMA Manual of Style, 10th edition
Slides may also include short video files, audio files, or graphics. If you include any multimedia files in your PPT, you have to save those files SEPARATELY from the PPT file, even if you've embedded the file into the PPT. Please include your last name in the name of every file used for your presentation.

NOTE: TOTAL FILE SIZE IS LIMITED TO 30 MB
