Monica’s internal audit department provides independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to optimize operational efficiency, control costs, and improve underlying controls. Her team works with the business to facilitate strategic risk identification and to bring a systematic approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. In prior roles at Waste Management, and as a consultant providing business advisory services, she has worked with businesses to realize tangible successes in operations, enterprise risk management, financial close and reporting, and supply chain optimization. She has delivered focused, customized, value-added solutions that allow businesses to strategically react to industry and market changes. Monica has an MBA from the University of Houston, and holds a B.S. in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University.
 
Doug Anderson

Doug spent 22 years at The Dow Chemical Company primarily in internal audit (9 years as CAE), but also as a Global Finance Director in Corporate Controllers and the Finance Leader for a global business. Subsequent to Dow, Doug was an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at Saginaw Valley State University from 2013 to 2015. He spent 10 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers early in his career. Doug has held many volunteer positions at The IIA and participated in a number of professional activities including COSO projects and the PCAOB Standing Advisory Group.
 
Wendy Lewis Armstrong

Wendy has 13 years of audit experience encompassing a vast range of industries. Prior to joining Noble, Wendy worked for Southern Union and PricewaterhouseCoopers. She holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Hampton University and is an active member of the American Woman's Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Junior League of Houston, Inc., where she currently serves as a board member. Wendy is a CPA.
 
Richard Chambers

Richard has more than four decades of internal audit and related experience. He was previously the national practice leader in Internal Audit Advisory Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers; inspector general of the Tennessee Valley Authority; deputy inspector general of the U.S. Postal Service; and director of the U.S. Army Worldwide Internal Review Organization at the Pentagon.

He currently serves on the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Board of Directors; the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC); and The IIA Board of Directors. Previously, he served on the U.S. President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency; the Audit Board of the City of Orlando, FL; The IIA Internal Audit Standards Board; and The IIA North American Board.

Richard received the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Frank Greathouse Distinguished Leadership Award and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) Legacy Award. Accounting Today named him one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for multiple years as well as one of 10 tweeters worth following. The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) has named him one of the most influential leaders in corporate governance in recent years.

Richard authored the award-winning book, Lessons Learned on the Audit Trail, which is available in five languages. He holds the certifications of CIA, QIAL, CGAP, CCSA, CRMA.
 
Dr. Margaret Christ

Margaret is an Associate Professor of Accounting, and the Deloitte Faculty Fellow in the Terry College of Business, at the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on management control systems, including internal audit practices, tools and methodologies. She has earned several research awards from the American Accounting Association, and her research is published in peer-reviewed journals such as The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Accounting Horizons, and The Journal of Management Accounting Research. She is an editor for The Journal of Management Accounting Research and serves on editorial boards of several other academic journals. Margaret also serves The IIA as a member of the Committee of Research and Education Advisors and is a CIA.
 
Jesse Daves

Jesse has 20 years of experience providing audit, forensic accounting and investigative services to clients across a wide range of industries, including energy, retail, real estate and manufacturing. Jesse has conducted fraud-related investigations involving numerous issues, including alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), embezzlement, kickbacks, Ponzi schemes, conflicts of interest and variations employment matters. He is a CPA, CFF and CFE.

Paul focuses in IT risk management, cybersecurity, and the adoption of technology solutions. He co-sources with various Internal Audit departments to help organizations execute high value, non-traditional IT audits. Paul has been published, is a contributor, and is a frequent guest speaker for various societies within the healthcare, higher education, and internal auditing professions, including: ACUA, HIMSS, AHIA, HFMA, IIA, and ISACA. He is a CISA and CCSFP.
 
Kim Hagara

Kim is responsible for all financial, information technology, operational, and compliance internal audit activities at the institution. In her role as UTMB’s CAE, she reports to the President and the Institutional Audit Committee. Kim has approximately 25 years of experience in internal audit and compliance in public accounting and higher education. She is a CPA, CIA, CISA and CRMA.
 
Troy Harris

Troy leads RSM’s Business Continuity Planning (BCP) consulting practice. He has over 15 years of business continuity planning experience having served as an internal recovery coordinator and an external BCP consultant. Troy has served organizations in a wide variety of industries in the public and private sectors. He and his team assists organizations prepare for disasters by helping them develop, test, and enhance their BCP, or by providing an objective assessment of their existing BCP and their overall BCP program. He is a frequent speaker on disaster mitigation and recovery planning concepts at national and regional levels and is a CBCP.
 
Katrina Hendrix

Katrina is an Internal Audit, Compliance and Risk Management professional with over twelve years of experience. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2004 with a Master's Degree in Accountancy before starting her career in Grant Thornton's Advisory Services practice in Raleigh, NC. She moved to Houston in 2006 and has spent the past ten years in progressive compliance and internal audit roles in the energy sector, during which time she has also become passionate about diversity and inclusion initiatives. She is a CIA, CFE and PMP.
 
Ryan Hubbs

Ryan is the Global Internal Audit Manager over Data Analytics at Schlumberger. He has over sixteen years of experience managing corporate investigations, forensic audits and compliance initiatives. Ryan has conducted hundreds of sensitive internal engagements concerning fraud, corruption, and employee related issues. He also has extensive experience with organization-wide anti-fraud programs and measures, corporate investigation programs and protocols, and ethics and compliance programs. Ryan is recognized as an award winning author and presenter by the ACFE and is a member of the ACFE’s faculty. He previously served as President of the Houston ACFE Chapter. He is a CIA and CFE.
 
Marcus Luttrell
Author of New York Times Bestseller, Lone Survivor, retired Navy SEAL, and Co-Founder of the Lone Survivor Foundation
Marcus was born and raised in Texas. He joined the United States Navy in March 1999 and graduated 18 Delta in 2001 as a team Medic.

In June 2005, Marcus and three other SEALs were assigned to Operation Red Wings, a mission to kill or capture a high-ranking Taliban leader responsible for killings in eastern Afghanistan and the Hindu-Kush mountains. Soon after encountering and releasing a group of local goat herders, the SEALs were engaged in an intense gun fight with Taliban forces. In the ensuing battle, the other SEAL team members were killed.

A Chinook helicopter was dispatched with a force consisting of SEALs and Special Operations Aviation Regiment to rescue the team, but the helicopter was shot down by an RPG killing all 16 men onboard. Badly wounded, Marcus managed to walk and crawl seven miles to evade capture. He was given shelter by an Afghan tribe, who alerted the Americans of his presence, and American forces finally rescued him six days after the gun battle.

Following his physical recovery from Operation Red Wings, Marcus returned and completed one more tour before being medically retired. He wrote the book, Lone Survivor, to share the amazing story of his brothers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. In 2013, Lone Survivor became a major motion picture starring Marc Wahlberg.

Marcus established the Lone Survivor Foundation for veterans and their families. He is also deeply involved in the The Boot Campaign, a charitable organization that focuses on military personnel and the hardships resulting from their service.

Chris specializes in IT governance, security, and business applications, as well as IT controls design and assessment. He has experience with leading teams in the audit of information systems, including for network security, application reviews, business process reviews, change management, program development, and computer operations. He is also skilled in assessing information security issues. Chris co-authored the “Transformation of IT Risk Management in the Energy Industry” whitepaper in 2015 and is a CISA and CISSP.
 
Liz Meyers

Liz works with organizations to refocus how they manage risks to increase their probabilities of success. She shares the importance of identifying risks that can impact the success or failure of an organization and understanding how much risk the organization is willing to take. She provides strategic ways to use limited resources and deliver value in today’s fast paced, ever changing business environment.

Liz is recognized for finding win/win solutions as well as her motivation and leadership skills. She exercised these skills while at SYSCO Corporation, the nation’s largest food distributor and a Fortune 100 company, including as the CAE and Senior Director in Information Technology.

She received the Leadership in Technology Award from The Association of Women in Computing. She is a professional member of the National Speakers Association and is a CPA, CFE, and MBA.
 
Patty Miller

Patty is an experienced internal audit professional with expertise in governance, risk management and internal control, and significant consulting and managerial experience in finance, accounting, internal auditing and risk management. She worked with Deloitte & Touche for 14 years before founding her own consulting firm, PKMiller Risk Consulting, LLC.

She has been active in global leadership roles with The IIA, including serving as Chairman of the Board in 2008-2009, and most recently as Chairman of the International Internal Audit Standards Board. Patty is a frequent speaker on governance, control and risk management topics and has co-authored research projects and articles for The IIA Research Foundation and Internal Auditor magazine.

She is the recipient of The IIA’s William G. Bishop Lifetime Achievement and Victor Z. Brink Awards.
 
Vijan Patel

Vijan has over eight years of experience in IT consulting and internal audit. His primary focus has been helping companies optimize their investment and performance in business applications. A regular speaker on the subject, he leads Protiviti’s Houston SAP Solutions practice, specializing in implementation best practices, automation, and risk management for mission-critical systems such as SAP and other major ERP systems. Vijan’s experience spans a variety of industries, including Energy, Financial Services, Industrial Products, Consumer Products, and Information Technology. He holds his CIA, CISA and CRMA.
 
Mysti Smith

Mysti obtained her B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University and then started her career with Deloitte as an external auditor in 2006 before transitioning to internal audit in 2008. She began at Reliant Energy as a Staff Internal Auditor and became a part of NRG with the acquisition in 2009. At NRG, Mysti has been promoted four times and is now a Director of Internal Audit responsible for leading a team in completion of an assigned portion of the annual audit plan, assisting with the annual risk assessment and audit plan development, and participating in periodic presentations to the Audit Committee, as needed. Mysti is a CIA and CFE and member of The IIA and ACFE.
 
Ashley Threeton

Ashley began her career with El Paso Energy in 1998 as an environmental engineer, primarily focused on air permitting and compliance. In 2002, she transitioned to the El Paso internal audit department as a senior auditor, and joined ConocoPhillips as a senior audit advisor in 2004. She assumed her current role in 2012 and is responsible for various functions including Audit Committee reporting, staff training and development, data analytics, and quality assurance. Ashley has a Bachelor of Engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Management from the University of Houston. She fosters rescue dogs, volunteers regularly with the Houston-based K-9 Angels Rescue organization, and is a Commissioner on the Houston Clean City Commission.
 
Dan Waggoner

Dan has more than 30 years of IT experience, including 25 years in information security and auditing, and is a Director in the Cybersecurity Strategy and Management practice. His experience includes serving as director of IT, CFO, and security consultant. During the past 20 years he has been involved in multiple aspects of the security spectrum, from penetrating the defenses of his clients, to helping his client put in place preventive and detective controls. He also assists the Grant Thornton Forensics team when the subject matter involves a security breach, due to a malicious outsider.
 
Vincent Walden

Vincent is an Atlanta-based Partner within EY’s Fraud Investigations & Dispute Services practice specializing in forensic technology. His areas of focus include forensic data analytics, eDiscovery, information governance and cyber breach response services. Providing leading technology perspectives on both proactive compliance programs and reactive investigations, he is part of a global leadership team of skilled forensic technology and data mining professionals and is the Southeast Regional Forensic Technology leader. Vincent has over 20 years of experience handling the information management, forensic analysis and electronic discovery needs for large scale, complex litigations, investigations and proactive anti-fraud and compliance programs across a variety of industries. Vincent has been featured in many publications including FRAUD Magazine, Internal Auditor Magazine, Compliance Week, Forbes, and The Economist. He is part of COSO’s Anti-Fraud Task Force and co-authored COSO’s Fraud Risk Management Guide released in September 2016. He is a CPA and CFE.
