The PLA Queensland Region State Conference aims to share emerging research, best practice, innovative workplace tools, models and ideas.The conference is the year’s best opportunity for parks and leisure professionals to share experiences and learnings.

The Conference ensures many opportunities to discuss and explore ideas as well as learn about cutting edge practice and research. The conference supports people who have new and innovative concepts, theories and ideas to test and share with colleagues.

The Conference Organising Committee is seeking proposals for:

  • Keynote addresses (30+) mins
  • Single or shared oral presentations (20 mins)
  • Workshops
  • Qward Nomineee Posters

Day 1 Living infrastructure

Day 1 will have a major focus on "how to build and urban forest" Masterclass presented by 2020202 Vision

There will be space for short presentation or posters if you would like to present on some great Queensland projects or research. The following themes are suggested:)

  1. Black to Green - reclaiming car spaces to green spaces
  2. The importance of nature in our cities
  3. What are parks going to look like in 20 years?

Day 2 - Infrastructure to keep us living

(including the following themes)

  1. Urban Planning - rethinking infrastructure priorities
  2. Activating our spaces and places
  3. Getting people outdoor and active
  4. Planning and managing facilities
  5. Budget Hacks - how to build activity in for less

Speaker/Presenters should expect to register for the conference and will be offered discount "speaker" rates for day or full attendance.

Presenter Nomination Process

  • Abstracts must be submitted using the online system.
  • Acknowledgement of the receipt of abstracts will be made by email.
  • Information required with any abstract submission:
    1. Title of presentation/ workshop
    2. Session type (single presentation, shared presentation, workshop)
    3. Length of session (Keynote 30+mins or Single/Shared presentation 20 mins, workshop 30 or 60 mins)
    4. Presenter name(s), presenters's position and workplace/company
    5. Abstrac - A summary of 100 - 150 words describing the issue/presentation.  Abstracts will be used in the Conference Program
