Technical Tours 1) Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve via Buderim Forest Park Mary Cairncross - 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest overlooking the Glass House Mountains National Landscape. The Reserve is a living museum of diverse plant and animal life which welcomes more than 200,000 visitors each year. It is a key destination of interest for tourists, school groups and families to learn and enjoy. To accommodate the continued growth in visitor numbers, significant improvements are currently underway to deliver a new discovery centre, research and meeting areas, theatre and café. During your visit you will get a “behind the scenes” tour of the Reserve and explore plans to build a world class nature recreation space. Buderim Forest Park - Alike the conference theme “Green Infrastructure for a rapid growth city” this newly acquired site was an eminent purchase by Council to meet open space demands in a rapid growth area. 2) Sunshine Coast Sports Stadium Promoting healthy communities this state of the art facility and premier venue hosts an array of events including international and national competition, music and other entertainment events. Sunshine Coast Sports Stadium is part of the Kawana Sports Precinct spread out over 45 hectares. Then off to Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre (Currimundi). Come and tour the recently redeveloped Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre, with the new 7.1 million accommodation blocks/dining area as well as the only artificial caving system of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, joint longest in the world at 150 metres there is plenty to see. There will also be an opportunity to see the new indoor climbing facilities and hear about the Queensland Recreation Centres business renewal project that has led to the implementation of a number of new products and programs. The Centre promotes safe and exciting participation in outdoor recreation. It offers a range of quality recreation and accommodation facilities, meeting spaces instructor - led activities for small or large groups.
3) Happy Valley to Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre - Bike Ride. (9.00am - 11.00 am) From Happy Valley to Currimundi come and enjoy a great recreational scenic ride, 7.3klm’s, all pathway.
