Thank you for your interest in presenting a workshop at the 2018 Points of Light Conference on Volunteering and Service in Atlanta. Before developing your proposal, please take a few minutes to review the information provided about the tracks on the following pages. The Conference team is seeking proposals in these specific content areas.
The following questions will gather important information about your session and the presenter(s). All required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
All proposals must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Monday, October 16, 2017. We are unable to accept proposals submitted by email or after the deadline.
Be sure to add firstname.lastname@example.org to your email safe senders list so you receive important notifications about your proposal. After submitting your proposal, you will receive a confirmation email. If you don’t receive it, please check your spam folder and then contact us to confirm that we received your proposal.
To ensure high-quality educational experiences for attendees, we request that all presenters have the following:
Experience as a trainer and/or presenter
Education, training and/or expertise in identified subject matter
Professional skills or knowledge related to the topic
Subject matter experts will evaluate submissions based solely on the information provided in the proposal. Each proposal will be reviewed carefully based on the following criteria:
Alignment with the mission of the Conference: to strengthen communities and change lives through volunteer service
Completeness, accuracy and clarity
Well-defined, realistic learning outcomes that can be met in the time allotted and that align with the content and session design
Clear, appealing and leading-edge content that is appropriate for the Conference and the proposed audience (Note that proposals for commercial products will not be considered)
Case studies, best practices and examples for a diverse audience
Up-to-date, innovative and replicable strategies
Evidence of measurable impact and effectiveness when appropriate
Session design with strong potential for audience engagement and learning
Presenter Terms and Conditions
Please review the presenter terms and conditions outlined below. By submitting a proposal, you indicate that you have read and are willing to abide by the terms and conditions.
The primary contact listed in the proposal will receive all communication about the session. Ensure that the email address email@example.com is added to your safe senders list. The primary contact is responsible for sharing pertinent information with presenters.
The Conference team may ask you to collaborate with other presenters or amend your proposed session to better align with the track. You have the right to refuse the request and not present at the Conference.
The primary contact will access the Presenter Resource Center for updates, weekly registration count reports and tasks related to the session (including presenter registration).
Information submitted in the proposal may be used for marketing the Conference and be included in the final program. The Conference team may edit titles and descriptions.
Two presenters per session will receive waived registration for the Conference. The third presenter will receive a discounted rate. There is a maximum of three presenters per session. All presenters must register for the Conference and are responsible for all other expenses, including travel and printing and shipping of session materials.
Presenters will help market their session and the 2018 Conference on Volunteering and Service with user-friendly marketing materials provided by the Points of Light Conference team.
Presenters will use the conference PowerPoint template provided for presentations, and will upload all session materials (including handouts, activities and other takeaways) to the Conference website by June 30, 2018.
The Conference team reserves the right to cancel a session if pre-registration numbers are low. Presenters would still be able to attend the Conference with waived or discounted registration.
The session will not be used as a platform to sell a product or service. If you mention products (i.e., books, software, etc.), it will be references for example and not for sales purposes.
The session you present at the Conference will be the same format and content as agreed upon by you and the Conference team.
