Eric is a dedicated Emergency Manager who is passionate about the field he works in and protecting those he serves.  He began his career in Emergency Management in 2002.  Eric has responded to emergencies of all different types and sizes to include; a Terrorist Attack, 5 Hurricanes, Tropical Systems, a Special Communicable Disease, Severe Weather, Wildfires, Multi-type vehicle accidents, Mass Casualty Incidents, etc.  He is currently the Corporate Manager, Emergency Preparedness for Orlando Health, Inc. hospital system in Central Florida.  A position he was promoted to in February of 2017 after serving as the Manager, Emergency Preparedness since February 2010. Orlando Health has a total of 2,218 licensed beds within 7 hospitals (two of which are the level 1 trauma centers for adults and pediatrics), 1 large cancer center, 3 ambulatory care centers, 1 skilled nursing facility, 1 athletic training center, 3 medical helicopters, numerous corporate ancillary and support facilities, 17,000 employees, and directly leads and manages 2 full time employees.

Eric obtained his BS degree in Criminal Justice from Fairmont State College in West Virginia.  Eric is certified as:  Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP), Florida Professional Emergency Manager (FPEM), Florida Professional Emergency Manager – Healthcare (FPEM-HC), Certified Homeland Protection Professional (CHPP), Emergency Management Specialist (SEM), and Certified First Response Professional (CFRP).  He also has achieved the Master Military Emergency Management Specialist (MEMS) designation.

Eric is also a member of the Department of Health & Human Services – National Disaster Medical System - FL-6 DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) as a Logistician, SMRT-5 (State Medical Response Team) as the Deputy Planning Chief, member of the RDSTF AHIMT (Regional Domestic Terrorism Task Force All-Hazards Incident Management Team), and State of Florida Division of Emergency Management AHIMT as a Qualified Liaison Officer (LOFR).

Ryan Turner was named the Division Chief of Emergency Management and Safety for the City of Henderson, Nevada in October 2011, and also fills the key role of Emergency Management Coordinator. He administers, directs, manages and coordinates the activities and operations of the City’s Emergency Management and Safety Division and spearheads issues of homeland security.

Ryan began his career with Lake Mead Fire Management, National Park Service in 2005. He performed firefighting tasks on an engine crew, logistics, fuel crew, and obtained and worked as an EMT Intermediate. After Hurricane Katrina, Ryan was inspired to enter the emergency management field and started working for the American Red Cross in October of 2006.

At the American Red Cross, Ryan served as the Southern Nevada Chapter’s Emergency Services Manager and Health and Safety Manager. He was responsible for managing emergency service activities which included disaster services, services to the Armed Forces, health and safety, and international services. Ryan managed 400 volunteers throughout Clark, Nye, Lincoln and Esmeralda counties in Nevada and deployed to Washington D.C. to work in the Red Cross’ Disaster Operation Center, assisting with mass care and government liaison activities for hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Ryan next served as the first Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMCSN) in December of 2009. The only County-operated hospital in Southern Nevada, UMCSN is also the only Level 1 Trauma Center and Burn Care Center. During his tenure, Ryan developed and oversaw the Medical Surge Area Command that coordinated hospital activity for Southern Nevada area hospitals during large-scale disasters.

Ryan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Emergency Services Management, graduating Magna Cum Laude and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science Technology – Urban Fire Fighting, graduating with High Honors. He obtained his Certified Emergency Managers designation from the International Association of Emergency Managers and graduated from Harvard University’s National Preparedness Leadership Initiative. Ryan currently serves as President of the Nevada Emergency Preparedness Association.
