The World Flower Council International is an established organization dedicated to furthering the cause of world peace through the beauty of flowers and the sharing of professional knowledge among those who have chosen the floral industry as their profession.

The World Flower Council International was founded in Gifu, Japan in 1983 by the late Mr. Juzaburo Sekiye of Tokyo, Japan.  With representatives of the U.S., Canada, and Pacific Rim present, it was named Pan Pacific Flower Culture Conference.  During it’s growth, the organization was named the World Flower Council and Mr. Herman Meinders, owner of American Floral Service, became the International Chairman.

was incorporated and filed February 14, 1986 in the state of Oklahoma, USA.  The four directors forming the board were Herman Meinders, Tom Butler, Jim Morley, and Dean White.  The duration of the corporation is perpetual.

The purpose of the World Flower Council International is a non-profit, non-religious, and non-political organization, which has been created to further the cause of world peace through flowers.  The World Flower Council will also provide the opportunity for the International promotion and global distribution and enjoyment of flowers; the exchange of floral techniques, and in general work for the betterment of the floral industry worldwide, all resulting in a more beautiful and peaceful world.

The World Flower Council International has members and or chapters in 32 countries including Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Cambodia, China, England, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Macau, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, St. Kitts, Taiwan, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.

The World Flower Council International
holds an annual summit meeting in various member countries of the world.  International members meet and share professional floral knowledge, techniques and network with other industry professionals while making new friendships.  Past summits have been held in Vancouver, Canada; St. Petersburg, Russia; Rome, Italy; Bangkok, Thailand; and Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Manila, The Philippines.  

The World Flower Council International sends delegates, representatives and designers to various events throughout the world.  A Student Exchange Program is also available for those who would like to travel to another country to learn and share floral techniques and knowledge.  The home office of the Council assists in finding hosts and students.
