2013 Stuff the Sleigh 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk
 
Message To Participants

Thank you for participating in the 2013 Stuff the Sleigh 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk being held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 on Jones Branch Drive, Tysons, VA.  We are excited and happy to bring this race to you benefiting ACT-NOW.  Abolish Child Trafficking Now Inc. is a U.S. based humanitarian initiative that works to prevent the trafficking of children which forces the most innocent members of our society into sexual, domestic, sweatshop or field labor.

General Information
  • All entrants get a colorful 2013 Stuff the Sleigh T-shirt, free refreshments and a free raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes that include a grand prize of an iPad Mini.
  • The course runs along Jones Branch Drive and Westpark Drive in Tysons, VA with the start and finish line at 7925 Jones Branch Drive.
  • It is anticipated that hundreds of runners and walkers will be participating in this race.
  • More than $3,000 in awards and prizes will be given out.  The top 3 male and female runners in eight different age groups will be given prizes.  As well as a $250 gift card to the overall male and female runner (plus, $150 gift card for second place and $100 gift card for 3rd place, male and female).
  • Race packet pickup will be provided at local businesses prior to race day as well as on-site on race day.
  • Both courses are walker-friendly and baby-stroller friendly

Because of its topography and human performance factors, this course may be the fastest 5K you'll ever run.



Turn-by-turn description:
  • Start at 7925 Jones Branch Road on right-hand side of the left lane (southeast bound)
  • Run north and west on Jones Branch, slightly uphill
  • The uphill start gives you a chance to warm up, then you come zooming back into a crowd
  • Cross Westbranch Drive
  • Pass Freddie Mac Center on your right and Kaiser Permanente  Medical Center Russell building on your left
  • Cross Park Run Drive
  • Stay right.  At Lincoln Way, turn left around the cone and marshal
  • Zoom straight back, downhill
  • Pass the start line, where you are greeted by hundreds of spectators
  • Continue south on Jones Branch Drive, back up slightly uphill
  • Turn right on Westpark Drive
  • Cross Westbranch Drive
  • Stay right and turn around left at a cone about 100 meters east of Park Run Drive
  • Continue in the right-hand lane straight back on Westpark Drive, mostly downhill
  • Turn left at Jones Branch Drive
  • Watch for the tall American flag on your left
  • The finish is just around the bend
  • Sprint downhill to the finish line
  • The combination of a long uphill to warm up and a long downhill to surge to the finish means you hit the finish line at full strength and full speed
  • We will have markers at each mile (1, 2, 3) and water stations along the way.
  • Volunteers and traffic control individuals will be posted along the way to insure that runners and walkers are directed along the appropriate route as well as manage/stop traffic flow as needed.
  • Since the course starts and ends at 7925 Jones Branch Drive, you will pass midpoint aid stations and water stations twice during the race.
