Dr. Ashraf Al Zaabi

Dr. Ashraf Alzaabi is the Head of Respiratory Division at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland 1997 and did his training in Internal medicine and Respirology for six years at the University of Toronto, Canada 2000-2006 where he was board certified in both specialties in Canada and USA.

Since his arrival to UAE he managed to develop a state of the art patient services in the Respiratory Medicine Division at Zayed Hospital and this included establishing the first sleep laboratory in Abu Dhabi and the first endoscopy center performing Endobronchial ultrasound guided biopsy procedures in UAE.

In 2007, he was appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) at UAE University.

Ashraf Alzaabi won many distinction awards such as the prestigious Murray Muirhead Award (2001) from the University of Toronto during his residency program. In 2013, He won the Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award in Clinical Performance launched by the Health Authority in Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

He was appointed as the Director of Medical Education 2007-2010 at Zayed Military Hospital. During this period, He succeeded to get the recognition of the Arab Board to start the first residency training program at Zayed Hospital in Internal Medicine. He engineered a memorandum agreement between the faculty of Medicine at UAE University and Zayed Hospital. The signing of this agreement recognized Zayed Hospital as a training hospital for the medical students and residents during their undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

In 2010, He finished a two year program at Zayed University doing an Executive Master in Health Care Administration. This helped during his posts at many important administrative positions both at Zayed Military Hospital and at other national organizations. He is a member of the Medical Executive Council (MEC) at Zayed Military Hospital which responsibilities include setting short and long term strategic goals for the institution. He served as the Chair of the Internal Medicine Examination Committee at the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi for the term 2010-2014.

Medical research and academic work has always been of great interest to him. He is an editor at the "CHEST" journal , middle east edition. He published the first UAE prevalence study on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the Respiratory Medicine Journal in 2011. His main interest in research includes Asthma, COPD and Sleep Medicine.

 
Dr. Abdulla Al Remaithi

Dr. Abdulla has graduated from ‪Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland on June 1994. He completed his internship at Dubai Health Authority (DHA) hospitals.  In 1995 to 1998, he worked as senior house officer at Zayed Military Hospital Abu Dhabi. He was able to complete his residency training at the University of Alberta Canada in 2003. Dr. Abdulla has worked as a consultant radiologist at Zayed Military Hospita and eventually become the Head of Radiology Department in 2008. He is an examiner at Arab board of radiology, HAAD and MOI licensing bodies and actively involved in teaching residence of Arab board in different centres in UAE.

 
Dr. Bassam Mahboub
Head of Pulmonary Medicine
Rashid Hospital Dubai

Dr. Bassam is the Program Director of care model innovation at Dubai Health Authority, Assistant Dean at the College of Medicine, Sharjah University.  He is a graduate of U.A.E. University, Al Ain.  He is American board certified in (internal medicine, allergy and clinical immunology, and pulmonology) from university of Toronto.  He also has Masters in Business administration from Wolverhampton University.

He is a Consultant Pulmonologist and the Head of Pulmonary Medicine, Rashid hospital under Dubai Health Authority, UAE.  He is also head of emirates allergy and respiratory society.  Besides, he holds the position of associate clinical professor, faculty of medicine, in Sharjah University and is the associate research fellow at Meakins Respiratory research centre, McGill University, Canada.    Dr. Mahboub’s areas of interest are health innovation and respiratory care, as well as translation research in airway diseases.   

He was awarded the following:

  • “Best Researcher Award” from Dubai Health Authority in Dec 2016
  • “Senior Researcher Award” from Dubai Health Authority in May 2016

His publications include TB Current Issues Diagnosis and Management (Editor 2013), Respiratory Disease and Infection: New Insight (Editor 2013), Chapters: Title "Steroids in Asthma: Friend or Foe" in book "Corticosteroids – New Recognition of our familiar friend" from INTEC PUBLISHER.  He is also the co-editor for the Annals of Thoracic Medicine.  He has also published various papers in respiratory disease.  

 
Dr. Jeffrey Chapman
Chief of the Respiratory & Critical Care Institute

Jeffrey Chapman, MD, is Chief of the Respiratory & Critical Care Institute, one of the five Centers of Excellence at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and Chief of the Quality & Patient Safety Institute. In his dual role, Dr. Chapman oversees a team focused on implementing a high quality, Patients First philosophy which uses the latest technology to enhance quality, drive patient safety, and address critical care needs in the fields of respiratory and critical care medicine.

Before moving to Abu Dhabi, he served as a Staff Physician at US-based Cleveland Clinic from 2000 to 2011. Dr. Chapman specializes in the treatment of interstitial lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, lymphangioleiomyomatosis, and connective tissue disease, as well as lung transplantation.

Dr. Chapman received his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in Biomedical Engineering and obtained his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, US. He received training in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Yale University. He is also a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society.

 
Dr. Mohammed Abuzakouk

Mohamed Abuzakouk, MBBCh, is a Staff Physician in the Medical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. 
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Abuzakouk worked as a lecturer in Clinical Immunology & Allergy at Trinity College Dublin, and then as a Consultant Immunologist and Allergist in the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergy at Hull Royal Infirmary in the UK. During this time he also served as the Director of Clinical Studies in Hull-York Medical School, and the Clinical Lead for the Northern Autoimmunity Educational Quality Assurance Group. In addition, he provided immunology consultancy services to a number of teaching hospitals in Ireland for accreditation purposes.

Dr. Abuzakouk has participated in a number of international studies and has published widely on many aspects of immunologic and allergic diseases in quality journals. He was also a principle investigator in a number of European multicenter research projects and has been active in national and regional medical organizations in the UK. Dr. Abuzakouk was awarded his PhD degree in Immunology from Trinity College Dublin
 
Dr. Mohammed Alhouqani
Assistant Dean for Medical Education
UAE University

Dr. Al Houqani is the Assistant Dean for Education at the College of Medicine & Health Sciences, UAEU. He did his postgraduate training at University of Toronto, Canada. He is certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Royal College of Physician of Canada. He also holds a Master degree in Public Health and was elected recently as a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.  His research interest is focused around the epidemiology of Respiratory diseases, smoking and obstructive sleep apnea.

 
Dr. Mohammed Badir Alsaiari

Dr. Mohammed Alsaiari is Consultant Pulmonologist licensed under SKMC, UAE. Dr. Alsaiari received his Medical Bachelor degree from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1999. He is Canadian and American board certified in internal medicine from University of Toronto and completed a fellowship in Pulmonary  medicine at McGill University. He then earned further training in pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Alsaiari has great interest in Pulmonary Vascular disease. He established the 1st Pulmonary Hypertension unit in UAE. Apart from clinical interest, Dr. Alsaiari he has done specialty training in the field of Medical Management and Healthcare quality management and has achieved the American board of Medical Quality.


 
Dr. Stephanie Korn
Head of Clinical Research Pneumology, Asthma and COPD Outpatient Clinic
Mainz University Hospital, Mainz, Germany

Dr. Korn qualified in medicine and obtained her Doctor of Medicine Degree from Mainz University Hospital in 2006. In 2013 she received her “Habilitation” (“PhD”) on the topic of “Cellular and clinical phenotyping of severe asthma for diagnosing and targeted therapy”. In addition, she studied Management Economy at the Business Academy in St. Gallen, Switzerland and graduated in 2009. Dr. Korn started her professional career at the Pulmonary Department at Mainz University Hospital (Head: Prof. Roland Buhl) in 2006. Since 6 years she is Head of the Clinical Trial Unit and is running the Severe Asthma Center in Mainz. Dr. Korn’s research and main clinical interests focus on the pharmacology and management of chronic obstructive airway diseases, in particular severe asthma as well as COPD. She has published many peer-reviewed papers on these topics and is actively involved in clinical trials investigating novel treatments. Dr. Korn is member of the German Pulmonary Society and she is a board member of the German Asthma Net.

 
Mustafa Noaman Al-Qaisi

He attained his Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Baghdad, Iraq and has a diploma in Marketing and Business Management from Noordlijk Hogeschool in Leeuwarden, University of Applied Sciences, Institute for Business, Netherlands. Recently, he received his Diploma in Total Parenteral Nutrition & Hospital Pharmacy Settings from Notting Hill College-UK/Institute of Health & Safety, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

He has actively taken part in establishing First Cure Group from scratch. He played a pivotal role in putting this nascent company on the right track and running it on the profitable side of business. The group has multi-category business activities belong to pharmaceutical & healthcare sectors; those include pharmaceutical imports & re-exports, supply of medical device & consumables, community pharmacies, hospital-based pharmacies & regulatory affairs for instance.

Currently, he manage a team of 20 staff members of pharmacists, bio-medical engineers, sales representatives, business development executives, finance & logistic support staff. Those are assigned to 3 retail pharmacies, 1 out-patient & in-patient pharmacies, 1 Drug Store plus back office support team.

 
Zarina Akramyar

She is skilled in performing different diagnostic procedure using advance diagnostic tools to accurately diagnose and determine the severity of respiratory dysfunction as well as in providing specialized and selective therapeutic respiratory care in collaboration with pulmonary physicians.
