Our three panelists will describe the central importance of regional acquisitions at their current and previous presses.  This presentation will appeal to directors at presses interested in starting new regional programs, as well as editors and assistants new to regional publishing.

Topics of discussion will include:

  • What does regional publishing bring to the university press in terms of readers, sales, and outreach?
  • How do you get a regional list off the ground if it hasn't been a historic strength at your Press?
  • How do you channel regional acquisitions as a way of building community support for the Press?
  • What is it like to acquire regional titles in a market saturated with other university presses or trade publishers?

If you've got additional questions that you would like speakers to address, please submit to Gianna Mosser [g-barbera (at) northwestern.edu] by Friday, October 9, 2015.

Panelists will also discuss winning regional acquisitions they have made and how these collaborations solidified new relationships and new audiences for their presses.
