In 2015 Milan will host the Universal Exposition.The theme is Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life based on the idea that everyone should have access to healthy, safe and sufficient food.

Italy is identified with excellence in food quality and is also the headquarters of the UN agencies active in the fields of food, agriculture and hunger.

One billion people suffer from hunger and an equivalent number are obese or overweight. Milan Expo 2015 aims at raising awareness on these issues and fostering the commitment to overcome them. The aim of Expo 2015 is to leave a legacy: the guidelines to winning the challenge of feeding the planet.

The Expo 2015 site will cover an area of 1.1 million square metres and will be a cutting-edge smart city where technology and energy are used in a smart and sustainable fashion. The Expo 2015 venue is being built in a strategic area with state-of-the-art infrastructure between two highways, near three airports, linked to Milan and surroundings by the high-speed train and the underground. During the six-month period, 140 countries will participate, thousands of events are scheduled and more than 20 million visitors are expected in Milan.
