2014 INS Fall National Academy of Infusion Therapy

Government and Industry Regulations Affecting Educational Programs

AdvaMed Code, PhRMA Code, and Individual State Laws
Many exhibitors at the INS Fall National Academy of Infusion Therapy abide by the AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with Health Care Professionals or the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, in addition to individual state healthcare reform laws that restrict their interactions with healthcare professionals. As a result, companies can no longer provide giveaways that are not educational in nature, or in some cases, refreshments to health care professionals in their booths or at their sponsored events. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Disclosure of National Provider Identifier (NPI#)/Sunshine Act
Due to new federal health care reform laws in effect ("Sunshine Act"), exhibitors and sponsors are now required to file an annual report to the federal government disclosing items of value (such as educational giveaways, refreshments, etc.) given to health care professionals. This report must include the business address of the recipient and, if the recipient is a physician or has prescribing authority, the specialty and National Provider Identifier (NPI) of the covered recipient.

If you already have an NPI number, please include this on your registration form.
Not sure what your NPI number is or if you have one?
Look it up here: NPI Registry.
