Description:  The demand for esthetic dentistry has increased in recent years. Tooth whitening products have evolved to meet the needs of today’s dental patients. This lecture course will outline the evolution of these products using current scientific literature and evidence-based strategies. To provide clinicians with practical guidelines, a variety of products and materials will be reviewed to help the dental professional choose the most appropriate. By comparing the tooth whitening advancements that have taken place over the past two decades, clinicians can help their patients achieve the best clinical results.

This course also will focus on managing dentin hypersensitivity. Dentin hypersensitivity is an episodic condition that is increasing in prevalence, believed to be a consequence of the common 21st century lifestyle. Surprisingly, a majority of patients do not actively seek treatment for dentin hypersensitivity. The effective prevention and management of dentin hypersensitivity requires a continuum of care, and a strategy for this will be provided during this course.

Learning objective:
  • To provide the dental health professional with a continuous care strategy for identifying and meeting the treatment needs of patients suffering from hypersensitive dentin.
