9:30 to 9:45 a.m.: Introductions and Welcome

9:45 to 10:30 a.m.: “Comprehensive Care — Thinking Globally, Acting Locally,” with Richard Hunt

The choices dentists face can be overwhelming — everything from materials to technology to practice models. And what about “work-life balance”? In this session, attendees will be introduced to the renowned Pankey philosophy of practice and life, which can assist them in developing a vision to create the practice of one’s dreams, as it has for more than 25,000 dentists. Learning objectives:
  • Review the three key components of an organized, stable occlusion.
  • Learn how to involve a patient in the process of a comprehensive co-discovery examination.
  • Help clarify the vision to create the practice of dreams.

10:30 to 10:45 a.m.: Q&A

10:45 to 11:30 a.m.: “Transitioning Your Dental Practice from ‘Insurance-Based’ to ‘Fee-For-Service’ in the Face of a Challenging Market,” with Liz Martin

The current dental market presents numerous challenges to todays’ clinicians. The increase in corporatization, decrease in insurance reimbursements, and record educational debt all have made it challenging to practice fee-for-service dentistry within the traditional private practice model. This course will give attendees tangible tools to introduce fee-for-service dentistry within any dental practice, while understanding the role of educational and practice debt within that transition. Learning objectives:
  • Understand the current realities of dental educational debt.
  • Introduce compensation models from multiple modes of dental employment, and understand the role of insurance reimbursements within each model.
  • Identify tangible tools to increase the presence of fee-for-service dentistry within any dental practice immediately, as well as steps to take in transitioning a heavily insurance-based dental practice toward the fee-for-service model.
11:30 to 11:45 a.m.: Q&A

11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: “Excellence in Anterior Preparations: The Synthesis of Art and Science,” with Dale Sorenson

In this session and the afternoon hands-on portion, attendees will learn that proper preparation design and technique is essential in order to have esthetic, biocompatible, and optimum-fitting restorations. A detailed step-by-step rationale and systematic protocol for successful and consistent anterior tooth preparations will be examined. Attendees also will learn that selection of proper burs and diamonds are critical to achieving success. Learning objectives:
  • Understand the dynamic of proper margin placement with respect to the biologic width.
  • Review step-by-step protocol to achieving predictable and consistent preparations.
  • Review the reasoning behind proper bur selection.
  • Become introduced to essential keys to achieving smooth preparations that aid ideal soft tissue management.

This course is in collaboration with The Pankey Institute..
