Trainees in Rheumatology: Understanding the wider world outside the NHS

Friday 20th November 2015, Arnolfini, 16 Narrow Quay, Bristol BS1 4QA

Are you available to attend a conference taking place 20th November 2015 in Bristol?

These meetings have been developed for SpRs, rheumatology trainees, and newly qualified rheumatology consultants, and are designed to help improve understanding of the structures in place across the NHS. These meetings have been organised by the BSR and MSD and have been fully funded by MSD.

The event provides excellent networking opportunities and offers a platform to share experiences and best practice. Experts will also give insights in to the inner workings of the NHS

Using interactive training methods, this workshop will equip delegates with invaluable knowledge on how to influence key stakeholders, such as colleagues, patients and commissioners.

Why attend?

·To better understand the structures of NHS organisations and how they interrelate with each other, local authorities and patient organisations

·To develop the knowledge of what commissioners are looking to provide to experts and how to influence effectively

·Have an opportunity to network and share experiences and learn from fellow SpRs in their wider regional area

·Through challenging case studies, put into practice the learning by influencing key groups such as patients, commissioners and those within your own organisation

Who should attend?

These meetings are most beneficial to individuals preparing to enter the profession of rheumatology  including trainee rheumatologists, SpRs and newly qualified rheumatologists but is open to all members of BSR rheumatology professionals.

If you have started your specialised training, you will need to be current member of the BSR with up-to-date membership payment. If you would like to join the BSR or make a membership payment, please click here to visit the BSR website or call Caroline Kennedy on 0207 842 0900.

Format of the event

During the day, we will use a variety of teaching methods and techniques, including plenary work, small group work and pair work. We believe very strongly in ‘learning by doing’ and the whole day will be as interactive as possible.
