Rocky Mountain Blood Cancer Conference - HCP Track
 
GOAL: To educate oncology nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals about the treatment and management of blood cancer, and support available for blood cancer patients and professionals.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Oncology nurses and social workers at all levels of licensure, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with blood cancer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

The Use of Precision Medicine in the Management of Hematologic Malignancies
 • Express how we modify our understanding of prognosis based upon precision medicine in patients with hematologic malignancies.
• Explain how to apply precision medicine to correctly identify appropriate treatment options for hematologic malignancies.

Update on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
• Describe the epidemiology, clinical features, and staging of chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
• Identify modern genetic testing that helps estimate prognosis in CLL.
• List treatment options for CLL patients, based on the latest clinical trial results.

Pain Management: Incorporating Evidence-Based, Psychosocial Approaches To Maximize Outcomes
• Understand the benefits of approaching cancer pain management from a biopsychosocial perspective, including the benefits of including psychosocial interventions.
 • Identify and understand how to incorporate several evidence-based psychosocial interventions that aim to reduce pain intensity and maximize functioning with pain.

Graft-vs-Host Reactions- The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
• Develop the level of understanding about graft-versus-host disease after hematopoietic cell transplantation with donor cells and how recent developments have decreased the risk of this complication.
• Recognize graft-versus-host reactions and why it is important to the success of transplantation by preventing graft rejection and relapse.

Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under Provider Number CEP 5832 to award 4.0 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), Provider Number 1105, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org. Approved Continuing Education Program (ACE). Approval period: 12/10/2017 - 12/14/2020. LLS maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social workers will receive 4.0 CE clinical contact hours.

Upon completion of this program and submission of the activity evaluation, a certificate of completion will be emailed to you within 30 days
