Marianne was responsible for the Whanganui’s inclusion in the Smart21 Intelligent Communities and Top 7 award.When she is not talking about robots, broadband and the future of work, Marianne can be found in her garden, chatting to the hens or one or more of her many children.

 
Peter Auhl
Peter is a multiple award winning CIO who has a career spanning more than 20 years in State and Local Government and private industry. This year, Peter was nominated and finished in the top 5 CIO’s in AsiaPAC from hundreds of applicants through the Talent Unleashed Awards and received personal feedback for his disruptive innovation from Steve Wozniak and Sir Richard Branson.
Peter has passion for customer focused solutions, information as an asset, smart business, connected architectures and government “getting out of the way”. Peter has led the implementation of many large IT programs across government and is an evangeliser and thought-leader in new innovative approaches that deliver customer outcomes.
Peter has spent the most recent chapter of his career focused on technology as a key enabler to Economic growth, “Sharing of Services” and creating Smart and Connected cities.
 
Adrienne Bonnington
Adrienne Bonnington is a senior environmental information analyst at Horizons Regional Council with over 20 years’ experience in the geospatial industry. She has a Masters in Information Science from Massey University and is a member of the ISO/TC 211 International Review Group and ALGIM’s Local Government Linked Data Working Group. Her current work involves solving interoperability issues using the semantic web.
 
Carol Cottam
Carol is the Information Services & Technology Manager at the Northland Regional Council, and leads a team of highly capable and talented staff. She has been at the council ‘for a long time’ and involved in the implementation most technologies currently used at council. Carol is also responsible for overseeing the ongoing utilisation of the core software solutions in use at Northland and how council can improve performance through the use of technology.
 
Lesley Courtney

Lesley Courtney was the City Archivist at Palmerston North City Library for ten years, before she became the Heritage Team Leader. She has a Masters Degree in History from Massey University, and it was her return to study that kindled her interest in archives as a profession. Her present job spans both archives and libraries, giving the opportunity for the team to provide a seamless service to the community, in the provision of both primary and secondary resources, particularly on topics of a local history nature. As the leader of Heritage, Lesley now has the opportunity to lead an expanded team of archives enthusiasts, who all work together to spread the word of our wonderful collections and wider resources through direct customer service and the delivery of a wide range of programmes and events.

 
Andrew Cushen
Andrew has over a decade worth of experience in New Zealand Telecommunications, with companies like Vodafone New Zealand, TelstraClear and now at InternetNZ.
As Deputy Chief Executive of InternetNZ, he leads a team dedicated to promoting the benefits and uses of the Internet and protecting its potential.
He is passionate about how connectivity can create opportunity for New Zealand, and thinks that we have barely started to explore the potential of this transformation.

With 17 years of experience in the civil design & civil engineering industry, having worked in both the private and government sectors on a broad range of projects. Utilising state of the art design software and processes to deliver large multi-disciplined engineering projects.
This diverse background has given Steven a thorough understanding of how all areas of the civil infrastructure industry operate. Steven’s passion lies in all things tech, particularly helping others harness the latest advances in software and workflows.
 
Ryan Elly

Ryan attended Canterbury University graduating with a degree in Natural Resources Engineering.  Ryan has worked for Environment Canterbury Regional Council since 1997 mainly in GIS analyst and later software development roles with a specialty of developing and integrating systems with GIS.

Ryan has contributed as one of the technical leads in the GIS Council Consortium since its inception developing tools for the ESRI GIS Viewers. Ryan has also functioned as one of the technical leads in the collaborative Canterbury Maps project with the territorial authorities in the Canterbury Region.

 
Thomas Frey
Over the past decade, Thomas Frey has built an enormous following around the world based on his ability to develop accurate visions of the future and describe the opportunities ahead.
His work is not just restricted to advances in technology. Rather, he takes a much larger view of the playing field including shifts in governance, system changes, evolving attitudes, human conditions, and much more.
Before launching the DaVinci Institute, Tom spent 15 years at IBM as an engineer and designer where he received over 270 awards, more than any other IBM engineer. He is also a past member of the Triple Nine Society (High I.Q. society over 99.9 percentile).

Dr Nancy Golubiewski
Nancy Golubiewski is an ecosystem ecologist and land systems science with expertise in urban ecology and assessing the environmental consequences of land use and land cover change, such as how land-use decisions affect ecosystem services, landscape structure and function, and carbon stocks. From a systems perspective, she pursues unraveling interconnections in order to understand ecological integrity.
She currently works on these issues at the science-policy interface at Auckland Council, researching and advising on land use, sustainability, and urban ecology. Prior to that, she worked at the Ministry for the Environment on national greenhouse gas inventory reporting and state of the environment assessments and a variety of academic and research organizations on interdisciplinary research teams.
Her research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Science, Global Change Biology, Ambio, Ecological Applications, Urban Ecosystems, and Journal of Environmental Management. She serves on governance committees for a number of organizations, including the Global Land Project and Encyclopedia of Earth.
She holds a B.Sc. from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, a Master's of Environmental Management from Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment, and a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
 
Lillian Grace

Lillian Grace is CEO and Founder of Figure.NZ, the first organisation globally to designate everyone as a user of data and to build the systems, software, language and trust required to deliver to this standard. Lillian is also on the recently established Data Futures Partnership Working Group, as well as on the board of the NZ Innovation Partnership and of Te Pūnaha Matatini, New Zealand’s Centre of Research Excellence developing methods and approaches for transforming complex data about NZ into knowledge, tools, and insight. Previously Lillian was at Academy Award-Winning Massive Software, at think tank The New Zealand Institute.

Shiree Hart
Shiree has been a Director at allfields for the last 15 years. Trained as a teacher Shiree quickly swapped to the corporate life and started out at Allfields as an IT Trainer. Allfields are a leading and sought after IT Change Management Consultancy and their slogan, “The People Side of Technology” sums them up really well. Shiree leads a team of trainers, developers and change management consultants. Based in Wellington but travelling the world, Allfields are working with some of the biggest all of government shared services ECM procurement projects but counts the best projects as those where contacts started as clients, but ended up as friends.
 
Tony Krzyzewski
Tony Krzyzewski has been involved with network design and implementation since the early 1980's and is now acknowledged as having installed the world's first MSDOS 3.1 network and introduced many New Zealand organisations to TCP/IP and Ethernet. Since those early days he has been involved with network implementations across the government and corporate sectors with an emphasis on cost effective operation and the security of information. Having been involved in the computer industry for close to 40 years he has a good perspective on how technology changes can impact the organisation. Now back running his own business, Tony provides consultancy services to organisations needing assistance from someone who has seen it all before.

Linda Lindeman is the Team Leader, Business Solutions at Palmerston North City Council. Her motto to most things is life is that "where there is a will, there is a way."
 
Owen McCall

Owen is an experienced management consultant and CIO who is passionate about harnessing the power of technology to create value for businesses, communities, families and individuals.

Previously, Owen spent 18 years with Deloitte where he worked with clients from around the world to implement technologies that supported their business strategy. He also led Deloitte's outsourcing practice for Australia and New Zealand.

Owen then became the CIO of The Warehouse, where he was responsible for actually delivering value from IT.

These roles have given Owen a broad perspective of IT, it’s power and it’s challenges. He now operates as an independent consultant and advisor, guiding CIOs and senior executives on how to use technology in a way that adds real value to their organisation. He is a regular blogger and contributor to CIO and iStart publications and a sort after speaker across the technology industry.
 
Billy Michels
Billy has been in the IT industry for the more than 30 years and is currently the ICT Team Leader at the Waikato Regional Council.
Overall he has spent 20 years in local government and has been an active member of ALGIM for the past 15. He was elected President last year. During his time in ALGIM he assisted with the negotiation of the umbrella agreement with ALGIM, has been our director of Local Government On-Line and represented ALGIM at a number of overseas events.
Outside of work he potters around with what he hopes will one day be a classic car, occasionally rows great distances and is currently learning to weld. He was once NZ’s largest, and oldest, manufacturer of longboards.  
 
Bill Nelson
Bill Nelson has worked with geographic information in the private sector and in government for over 15 years.
He now manages the LINZ Data Service where he gets to be the conduit connecting data managers and data customers.
 
Matt O’Mara
Matt is the Chief Executive for Stratford District Council. Matt has a diverse background in central government (including the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Treasury and State Services Commission), local government, education, defence, health, audit and the private sector.
Matt enjoys mentoring and currently serves on a number of Boards and is a regular contributor to numerous professional organisations.
 
Jenine Ritchie
Jenine has been at Gisborne District Council for 3 years, 2 years as the IT Team Leader and most recently as the Information Services Manager. Jenine came to Council after working as the Group IT Manager at Eastland Group and many years working as an IT Project Manager and Business Analyst in the automotive industry in the UK
 
0Gordon Stevenson
Gordon has worked in the IT Industry in UK and NZ for more than 30 years. He has been a very happy New Zealander since 1993 working with EDS and IBM, where he has managed the Government Business Unit. He left the industry for the ‘real’ world by joining NZTE working with the New Zealand technology sector.
Gordon had the privilege of managing the New Zealand Pavilion at the huge CeBIT technology show in Hannover for three years, which demonstrated the creativity and capability of NZ tech companies. After a few years of consulting with small technology clients, Gordon was tempted back into the mainstream as the Business Development Manager for ICT Shared Services where he sees this as a fantastic opportunity and the nearest thing he has come across to a true win-win service environment.
 
Paul Stone
Paul has over 20 years’ experience in IT for a variety of organisations including Knight Frank (NZ) Limited, Ministry of Defence, Charities Commission and was CIO at the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. Paul was responsible for delivering the Charities Register as open data in 2011. He worked one day a week on secondment to the Open Government Information and Data programme for nearly three years, and has been full time at on it for the last 2 years.
 
Mark Stuart
Mark joined Dell SonicWALL in 2013 with a background in providing technical design and implementation advice to clients across a variety of platforms and technologies focused on networking and security. 
Mark has successfully delivered large infrastructure re-design and deployment projects locally and internationally with different clients in telecommunications, finance, education, government, manufacturing and utilities industries.
 
John-Paul Syriatowicz
John-Paul (JP) Syriatowicz is Group CEO of Squiz, which he co-founded in 1998 and today employs more than 500 staff across 13 international offices.
In 2009, Ernst & Young named JP a Young Entrepreneur of the year.

Lisa Tamati
Lisa is one of seven people to have conquered the Himalayan High race 222km which navigates over the two highest passes in the world, her achievements continue on. Lisa is the Author of two Books, "Running Hot "and "Running to Extremes" and has both Produced/Directed or been the focus of 8 documentaries and movies to date.

She is also a business women being the Director of four companies and knows very well the challenges of the business community.


 
Richard Taylor
Richard Taylor is responsible for Market Development in ANZ at SurveyMonkey. In 2014, he was a founding member of the SurveyMonkey Australia team. Prior to SurveyMonkey, Richard had accumulated more than 10 years of market development experience in cloud software for the government sector. Since Richard joined SurveyMonkey, the team in Sydney has more than tripled. SurveyMonkey has over 26M customers worldwide and across ANZ works with over 1,800 government entities. @rktaylor
 
Roger Temple
Roger Temple has recently returned from the UK where he lived with his family for 15 years. The last 8 years were spent managing an ISO 27001 certified Voicemail to Text start up before it got acquired by Nuance Communications in 2009.
Rogers’s last role was Director of the Mobile Division at Nuance where he was responsible for security from application development to service delivery for the globes largest SaaS voice recognition platform with annual revenues in excess of $440m USD. Roger provided all customer facing pre and post-sales support for existing and new geographies and full security operational gap analysis programmes for services to large global customers including Acer, AT&T, BMW, Intel, Panasonic, Samsung, Telefonica and Telstra.
On return to New Zealand he was employed by SSS as their Senior Security Consultant and provides information security expertise for the public and private sectors and is also working on developing several security as a service offerings.
 
Phil Thomson
Phil Thomson is CEO of Auror, a software company helping businesses, police and communities solve and prevent everyday crime in real-time. A reformed lawyer who specialised in intellectual property and privacy law, Phil gave up the corporate dream to become part of a startup seeking to tackle the global problem of crime. He is passionate about helping police and communities work together to prevent crime, for which Phil and his leadership team were recently named Young Innovators of the Year at the New Zealand Innovators Awards.

Scott has been working with enterprises across Asia Pacific and the US to help them liberate value from their data assets and drive innovation and business for more than a decade. He works for Google in customer solutions and innovation in the data platforms group across APAC. Prior to this, he worked with Adobe assisting C-level executives across APAC with digital strategy and digital transformation.
Scott also held the role of CTO for Qmecom, an Australian startup focused on personalised video advertising for mobiles, and has worked for major organisations, including Telstra and Sensis, delivering digital marketing and digital products.
 
Hon Louise Upston
Louise Upston is the Member of Parliament for Taupō, a seat she has held since the General Election of 2008.
In October 2014 Louise was appointed Minister for Land Information and Minister for Women; and was given responsibilities as Associate Minister of Local Government; and Associate Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment. She is a Member of Parliament’s Justice and Electoral Committee.
Prior to being appointed a Minister, Louise was Government Chief Whip for two years and was Junior Whip for one year. She has also served on the Parliamentary Service Commission and has been a member of the Government Administration, Education and Science, Local Government and Environment, and Maori Affairs select committees.
Before entering Parliament in 2008 Louise was self-employed as a project management consultant. She also held directorships in a number of trusts and companies involved in property, tourism, project management, and consulting. Louise holds an MBA from Waikato University.
Louise currently lives in Karapiro, south of Cambridge, with her three children. She enjoys participating in sporting events and has competed in the Round the Lake Relay, the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, and the 63.3 km challenge - three Taupo-based half marathons in three months. She is also co-captain of the Parliamentary netball team.
 
Simon Waller
Simon is the author of two books, The Digital Champion: Connecting the dots between people, work and technology and Analogosaurus: How to avoid extinction in a world of digital business.

He is an international speaker on the topics of digital disruption and the future of work and has worked with numerous councils in Australia to help them incorporate digital tools in the workplace. For Simon, digital technology as not just a catalyst for increasing business productivity, it is an avenue to improving the quality of life of those who use it.

Simon developed his expertise working in business improvement and strategy development at Rio Tinto. In addition he holds qualifications in futures thinking, commerce and leadership.

Mike Wanden
Mike is the IT Manager at Otorohanga District Council, where he has worked for over 29 years. During this time Mike has established a reputation with in the industry as a strong supporter of medium to small Councils in New Zealand Local Government.
Mike is currently on the ALGIM executive and is also a past President. Mike is passionate about and proud of what ‘small town’ Otorohanga achieves and firmly believes it is the best small town in New Zealand.
 
Mark Watson
Mark is a senior technical solutions consultant who has been working with SharePoint for almost all his professional career. A people first person; with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, numerous certifications and extensive experience including a background in development, allows him to transcend technology and concepts, engaging users from all walks of life.
Mark enjoys leading analysis workshops and engaging stakeholders, combining best practices in usability, business analysis, infrastructure and information architecture to his solutions. Early adopter experience with the Office 365 product stack allows Mark to understand the implications of the platform and how it can be optimally configured to provide the digital workplace of the future.

Melanie is the Assistant Auditor-General, Legal and a member of the Auditor-General’s leadership team. Melanie heads up the legal and inquiries team at the Office.
Melanie has been with the OAG for just over a year - prior to that Melanie has had 20 years of experience in the public sector working in policy and legal roles.
Melanie has worked at the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice and most recently as the Chief Legal Adviser at the Department of Internal Affairs.
 
Glyn Williams
Glyn Williams has assumed the role of Global VP Objective Trapeze Solutions since the acquisition of Onstream Systems by Objective Corporation in February 2016. 
Glyn joined Onstream Systems in 2005 as CEO after returning to New Zealand from the United Kingdom, and became a shareholder in 2006. In the UK, Glyn worked in the media rights market and television industry as Commercial Director of Arena Online Services and latterly Attheraces television channel.
He was at the forefront of internet and mobile gambling growth early this century and was involved in the development of streaming media to mobile phones and the introduction of interactive TV.
Glyn also spent 18 months at Sky Channel in Sydney developing their mobile and interactive media services before returning to the UK to establish a new start-up mobile media rights company. Glyn brings a wealth of international experience in digital technology and local government to Objective Corporation.
 
Craig Young
Craig is passionate about the communications technology industry and the opportunity it offers for improving business and personal lives in New Zealand. He is currently the Chief Executive of the Telecommunications Association of NZ (TUANZ) which as a member-based organisation that advocates for the improvement of communications technology services across NZ. TUANZ has a proud history of providing leadership in influencing the development of improved connectivity and competition in the New Zealand communications market.
Craig has over 17 years experience in the industry and has held various management and commercial roles. He has been heavily involved in providing leadership in engagement with several industry sectors but has a special interest in rural connectivity and is currently the Deputy Chair of the Rural Health Alliance Aotearoa New Zealand.
