Technology Transfer: Fueling America’s Innovation Pipeline

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS)

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is the premiere leadership organization advocating the interests of women in science and technology. For over 40 years, AWIS has fought for equity and career advancement for women – from the bench to the boardroom.

AWIS members characterize the future of our nation’s diversity and talent pool. They are found in academia, in industry, and in government. They invent, teach, mentor, do path-breaking research, and serve as role models for future generations of girls and women who will contribute to America’s innovation enterprise. With more than 50 chapters around the country, we unite women through our nationwide network of chapters and partnerships with aligned professional organizations.

AWIS initiatives cut across education, employment, and the general issues facing the science community in the U.S. such as research and program funding. A critical part of our work is advocating for institutional change by promoting policies that increase women’s representation in leadership positions, and by fostering a positive public image of women in STEM.
