Donald J. Kosiak Jr., MD, MBA, FACEP, is the Avera eCARE Executive Medical Director. In this role, he serves as the chief medical authority of one of the most robust telemedicine programs in the United States. In addition, he has served the role of Chief of Staff of the Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center (AMH), a 545-bed tertiary medical center located in Sioux Falls, SD.
Previously, he served as the Chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine at AMH, where he continues to work as a staff emergency physician. Dr. Kosiak is active in the United States Army Reserve as an emergency physician, having served two tours of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Dr. Kosiak attended medical school at the University Of North Dakota School Of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he served as chief resident. In addition, he served as the President of the Mayo Fellow’s Association. He received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.
Dr. Kosiak is a published researcher and an experienced presenter, having presented at over 50 regional and national conferences.
