Arriving early and looking for something to do??  Take a bus to Piacenza to visit GeoFluid 2012, a highly focused exhibition, aimed at visitors from specialized markets, including geofluid, geotechnical, geotunnel, and geocontrol product sectors and is a not-to-miss event for practitioners in the international drilling and foundation industry.GeoFluid Exhibit Tickets are not included.  Bus ride only.

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 ~ Welcome Reception 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Attend the Welcome Reception at Hotel Grand Visconti Palace to kick off the workshop with the delegates.

Thursday, October 4, 2012 ~ Full Day Milan Tour and Lunch 9:00am - 3:00pm

Begin at the Grand Visconti Palace hotel to board the bus for a short transfer to Duomo square. An authorized professional guide will begin a gentle walking in Corso Vittorio Emanuele arriving at Piazza San Babila and at the high fashion district (Via Montenapoleone, via dellaSpigaetc).

Finally, visit Milan’s most famous Opera House, the fabulous La Scala theatre. Founded in 1778 and still in use, some of the world’s greatest musicians and opera singers have performed here from Giuseppe Verdi to Luciano Pavarotti.

A Milanese cuisine lunch at a local restaurant will be the final stop on the tour and then a quick transfer back to the hotel.

Workshop attendees will be bussed to Piacenza to visit GeoFluid 2012, a highly focused exhibition, aimed at visitors from specialized markets, including geofluid, geotechnical, geotunnel, and geocontrol product sectors and is a not-to-miss event for practitioners in the international drilling and foundation industry.GeoFluid Exhibit Tickets are not included.  

At 6:30pm attend the Awards Dinner at Grande Albergo Roma in a room with a 360 degree view of the Piacenza city centre.  Awards will be presented to Lizzi Lecturer and Scholarship Recipient and board members will be recognized.

The grand tour of Milan will begin with typical Italian lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch bus transfer to Piazza Castello, a Visit to the medieval Sforza Castle. A grand medieval Castle and fortress, the Sforzesco was once seat and residence for the ruling family of Milan and now houses several of the city's museums and art collections. Visit of the yards and of the Rondanini Pietà by Michelangelo. The Rondanini Pietà is a marble sculpture that Michelangelo worked on from the 1550s until the last days of his life, in 1564.

A short bus transfer to Via Verdi and gentle walk through Vittorio Emanuele II Archade. The alluring Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping gallery; a 19th century glass vaulted shopping arcade. Brimming with fashionable shops and cafes, it is often called the “Salotto di Milano” or “Milan’s drawing room” for its importance over the years as a common meeting point for the people of Milan
.
Duomo Square is next, a tour guide will give a brief background and history on the cathedral to the group outside and then individual entry is allowed. The splendid Duomo, one of the world's largest, most striking Gothic cathedrals has some 135 spires and 3,200 statues crammed onto the roof and facade of the building. Guests ascend to the Cathedral terraces for a breathtaking view of Milan for a grand finale of the Milan Tour.
