Subject Code: 310 - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Credits: 1.5
This lecture will cover predictable, but uncommon, techniques to improve the practitioners’ ability to atraumatically remove non-restorable teeth. It will emphasize less stress to the doctor and less stress to the patient through reduced post-op discomfort, edema and destruction to the alveolar ridge. Utilization of new-but-simple surgical instruments and a new paradigm of tooth removal will be demonstrated. Learn how affordable and reusable surgical instruments can allow a kinder experience for patients. Gain an understanding and application of the principle of finesse wins over force.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how to deliver improved patient care by less-traumatic tooth removal.
- Learn to preserve hard and soft tissue at the extraction site to improve all prosthetic replacement options.
- Learn to use and apply finesse over force when removing teeth.
