Wichita Attractions

Welcome to Kansas’s largest city, known as “Cowtown” in the late 1800s. Wichita is a city of industry with several large museums, parks, and entertainment spaces. There is so much to see and do!

Old Town Wichita is home to several coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. Stop by the Old Mill Tasty Shop, which opened in 1932, for old fashioned sodas and burritos smothered in green chili.

Take in a show at the Mosely Street Melodrama theatre, whose plays are “funny, wacky, totally immersive, and delightful”, according to one TripAdvisor reviewer. Consider stopping by CityArts to see work from local artists or River City Brewery, Wichita’s only brewpub still in operation.

For those who want to shop in Old Town, you’ll find several boutiques, antique shops, and specialty stores throughout. Take home local popcorn to your family and friends from Kernels Popcorn Express. The Old Town Architectural Salvage has an array of home décor and collectibles.

Wichita has several museums that focus on local history and culture. Learn about the railroads at the Great Plains Transportation Museum or Wichita’s history at the Old Cowtown Museum. This 23 acre attraction recreates the world of Chisolm Trail circa 1865-1880. Visit frontier schools, general stores, and family houses.
