You’re an expert fabricator, right? Here’s your opportunity to show off to your peers!

The Show-off Video Contest takes place at the 2017 Quality Control Meeting and is open to any STI member or inspector. The video creator does NOT need to be present to win!

How to enter the Contest

1. Make a short (30-120 seconds) video demonstrating any manufacturing technique you wish.  Here are a few ideas:
  • How to avoid overfilling a Fireguard tank
  • Resin/glass calibration procedure
  • Welding process
  • Tank tightness testing
  • Demonstration of a safety moment
  • Coatings/linings
2. Upload your video to YouTube. If you need some help, see the instructions at this link.

3. Send the YouTube video link by email to Lorri Grainawi and Dana Schmidt at STI, along with your name, your company name, and a brief description of what you are trying to show us.

That’s it! You’re in the contest!

DEADLINE: Your video must be up on YouTube no later than April 17, 2017.

Judging and prizes

Before the QC Meeting, Lorri Grainawi, Director of Technical Services, and Dana Schmidt, Standards Engineer, will review all submissions. They will select the top five videos according to these criteria:
  1. Is the video technically accurate?
  2. Does the video clearly illustrate the process?
  3. How creative is the video?
  4. Is the quality of the video acceptable?
  5. BONUS POINTS: Does the video communicate equally well without narration?
At the QC meeting, the audience will view the selected videos and vote for the top three to receive prizes: first prize $100, second prize $50, and third prize $25.
