Rik Geerdink
Senior Expert Vibrations
Advituro

In 2008 Rik started working as expert rotating equipment at energy company Electrabel. Together with a colleague Rik analysed the vibration data of the power trains at 7 power plants of Electrabel in the Netherlands. For one of these power plants we also performed the off-line vibration measurements of the balance of plant equipment. During a major overhaul, it was sometimes necessary to balance generator- or steam turbine rotors. Most of the time this was done at high speed balancing facilities. Rik was there to witness the balancing. Rik was fortunate to follow the commissioning of a gas fired and a coal fired power plant. He performed site acceptance tests for balance of plant equipment, power train and protection systems as well as the vibration analysis systems.

In 2017 Rik joined his colleague at the company Advituro. Advituro is specialized in all vibrations measurements and analysis, all balancing services, Blade Vibration Measurements, SMART condition monitoring and technical assistance for steam turbines during minor and major overhauls. All services are offered 24/7 and around the world.

Rik is married and have two kids of 4 and 6 years old. He likes to mountain bike, once or twice a week, listen to music, cook for family and friends.

Geoff Walker
Operations Director
Artesis LLP
Geoff Walker is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 40 years’ experience in Maintenance and Asset Management. Following a first degree in Engineering at St John’s College, Cambridge University, Geoff spent the first decade-and-a-bit of his career in the Chemicals Industry, covering the range of new plant design, new plant build, new plant commissioning, plant operation and maintenance, and technology development. His first exposure to RCM, FMEA and Condition Monitoring came in the mid-1980s, applying the techniques to fine chemical production plants.

He spent the next decade-and-a-bit of his career in Management Consultancy, being one of the founder members of Coopers & Lybrand’s Physical Asset Management practice, and ending up as Director responsible for Physical Asset Management across Europe, Middle East and Africa. In this role he helped organisations in many different industries improve their physical asset management, getting better performance at lower cost, through a variety of techniques covering people, processes and systems. These techniques included Maintenance Strategy development, RCM deployment, Spares Optimisation, and the deployment of Computerised Maintenance Systems, particularly focussing on realising the benefits from the use of these systems.

He has spent the last decade-and-a-bit developing and deploying smart systems for automated fault diagnosis and condition monitoring, and is one of the founding partners of Artesis LLP, who specialise in condition monitoring of rotating equipment using the drive motor as a sensor to monitor the behaviour and condition of the driven equipment.

Geoff sits on a number of committees responsible for the development of standards for Condition Monitoring, for the British Standards Institute, and the International Standards Organisation, ISO. He also sits on the Committee for BINDT – the British Institute for Non-Destructive Testing.
