Treaty Training
 

 

Jen Margaret (Pākehā) has been active in Treaty education for 20 years. She is a knowledgeable and skilled facilitator who enjoys working with individuals and organisations to support understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. As a recipient of the Winston Churchill (2010) and Loxley Fellowships (2012) Jen has researched the work of non-indigenous allies in North America, Australia and Aotearoa. The findings are published in her book Working as allies: supporters of indigenous justice reflect (2013). Jen offers a range of services to support organisations to apply the Treaty, including: generic and tailored Treaty workshops, organisational Treaty reviews, facilitation of strategic planning, individual staff training, mentoring and supervision. Jen’s recent and current clients include: Auckland Council, MidCentral DHB, Compass Health, PHARMAC, Health Quality and Safety Commission, Community Law Centres o Aotearoa, CORE-Education and the Office of the Children’s Commissioner.

 

Kate Frykberg is the Chairperson of the Philanthropy New Zealand Board and an independent consultant for the philanthropy and community sector. She is also an independent committee member of the Ngāi Tahu fund, a board member of social enterprise Conscious Consumers and is chair of her small family foundation, the Thinktank Charitable Trust. Additionally, Kate was Executive Director of Todd Foundation from 2005 until 2015.

Kate’s background includes communications, information technology and entrepreneurship. She is a former ASB Business Woman of the Year and a recipient of the NZ Order of Merit for services to business and the community.

An active volunteer all her adult life, Kate lives in Wellington and is married with three sons. She also blogs about philanthropy and related matters.
